I'm at the colapsed shed at the vegatable patch and I see nothing on the ground to pick up. A WT says there should be a rusty shoehorn.

You may be at the wrong side of the shed. When approaching the shed (when you have the old suitcases in front of you on the ground) you can go to both right and left side of the tree.
