Soot, I'm definitely not buying another gaming laptop! I was hoping this one would last another year or two. My first Alienware laptop was an absolute beast and ran for over 7 years of hard use. I guess it's time to start looking at desktops.

Raining and cold here, with snow on the way. Less than two weeks ago it was 70 degrees here for about a week (around the time that many of you were freezing to death) and we had all the windows open, with the daffodils having started to bloom.

Looks like my laptop needs a new motherboard. Fortunately it's covered under the warranty. Hopefully this will be the last time I have to go without it.

Good heavens, hagatha... It seems like that laptop has been completely rebuilt! I took the plunge and ordered a new desktop to be built for me. I decided I didn't want to build it myself - too much bending over! I'm kind of excited because it's been 8 years since I built this one which makes it a dinosaur. I'm going to connect them both to my monitor, keyboard and mouse with a KVM switch.

Well, you are right Draclvr & hagatha about it still being winter, woke up to a blizzard & it's a good 8 inches or more out there & still coming down, it's 0F or -18C right now. I must admit Lunar New Year is pretty obscure. Anyway. Apperently it's the year of the fire horse. I heard one recommendation to avoid wearing red clothes now becuse it's already so hot because the fire horse. An other theory says you should wear red, because it matches the fire. I have no idea but what I do know is that it's still icy cold outdoors.

So emergency use instant coffee is my recommendation.

Good morning everyone. Proceedure was textbook and couldn't have gone better...no driving today but lots of short walks. So will be taking short walks every hour today and then tomorrow back to walking Max in the park and more short walks. And best of all I can enjoy bagels and WADDB all day today! We'll have a few days of normal winter weater too Draclvr and Connie. Fogfighter, I would say you should wear what you like to wear. We are all foggy this morning too Gerry. Yes indeed OldBroad and Judith, there's nothing like a fresh blanket of snow where it feels like the world hit the mute button overnight--a white quilt that softens rooftops, swallows fences, and rounds every sharp edge into gentle curves. Hope the new motherboard cures all ills Hagatha!

Good Wednesday morning. SO happy the procedure was textbook perfect, soot! Gotta keep up that bodily maintenance as we grow older!

I wonder if that motherboard wasn't your problem all the time, hagatha. Replacing one of those in a laptop pretty much means starting from scratch and rebuilding. My new computer is supposed to arrive today! They sent me a short video of it right after building it showing it booting up. I'm excited!
