This is the second Silent Hill game in a row that is not actually set in Silent Hill, the memorably creepy town in Maine. But if sales are good and fans don't object, it will likely stay that way. The last game actually set in the town was Silent Hill 3 from 20+ years ago (and I'm hoping for a remake of that). "Silent Hill" will likely just be in name only going forward.

Really!!! Do you know if there is a reason for that. I haven't played any of them past or present although I did pick up Silent Hill 2 with that 50% discount running but have not started it. It's downloaded and ready for a try. Do you know if IT IS set in Silent Hill?

Silent Hill 1 to 3 are actually set in Silent Hill. But Silent Hill 4 isn't, and is the first one that isn't; but it is in the same "universe" as the other games. They wanted to expand the universe, so that's probably why several games aren't set in Silent Hill. The bigger the universe, the more games and products they can make. Most IP owners want to do that to grow the business. The Marvel universe (or multiverse) includes stories as diverse as Howard the Duck and Black Panther.
