Good morning Ana, Gerry, Connie, FogFighter and all who follow. We're having incredibly warm temps too Connie, and headed back to the freezer on Sunday. Passed my first post procedure check-up this morning with flying colors...next one in a couple of weeks. Time to enjoy bagels and wide awake double dark brew. Have a great T.G.I.F. Friday everyone

Wow, our weather has been a real roller coaster, it's 0 F going up to 5 F. I'm tired of winter now, can't wait for the spring flowers to bloom. Have a great day everyone.

Good Friday afternoon. I noticed my daffodils are peeking their little green heads out of the ground! Hope they don't get frozen off.
So I've been wrangling computers. Got my new one last yesterday and just had time to connect to monitor and boot it up... except it didn't. Fans were running, lights were on, but nobody was home... nothing on my screen. I tried a different monitor; I tried a different cable - nothing. I sent a quick email to Mike at ecollegepc just before I left for bowling last night at 6. He responded right away and told me to check the motherboard code when it booted up. ASUS has nice big red code number to help you troubleshoot. Well, my code was 55 - no RAM detected. I asked if it was OK if I just reseated the RAM. I have a huge CPU cooler and was worried about taking that off, but I just had to snap off one of the end fans. Popped the RAM, reseated it, replaced the cooler fan and TA DA! Success! So, when I recommend ecollegepc because of their customer service, this is why. They can all make mistakes, but it's how they handle them that makes the difference.

Yes, for sure, it helped that I was familiar with the interior workings of a computer. I don't know how they help those who don't know their way around inside. Probably return the unit.

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. Soot that is good to hear everything is going well! Draclvr glad you got your new computer up and running! We had some mixed precip yesterday...icy mix that coated the roads and driveways. it has started snowing now so all that ice is going to be under the snow making for treacherous walking. I am cat sitting this week so hopefully as the day warms up...temps are supposed to get into the 40s...I will not have an issue going to care for my neighbor's cat. Hope you all enjoy your weekend! Good Saturday morning. We're having a few snow flurries right now, but it's not supposed to amount anything.
My goodness this computer is fast! My old one was state of the art 6 years ago, but these new generation SSDs are wonderful! I put an Ultra processor in it too, so I'm sure that makes a diffeerence. Now, what to play first! I'm thinking I might download the new Vampire Masquerade. I've played through most of it, but was last summer, so I won't remember anything!
I am doing the night feeding/closing for two nights down at the Ranch. Not much to do right now. I have to feed three old guys and Bubbles the Zebu and that's it! We have a heated vet room where we put animals that must stay in quarantine and need heat. I have to go in there that turn out lights if there is anything in there. Last night there was a mama Nubian goat with two little babies! OMG, they were so cute! Nubians are the goats with the long floppy ears.

Good Saturday morning everyone. Another warm morning for our walk at 72 degrees and now we're enjoying rain showers. I think I have a grocery run this afternoon but first we're gathering a portion of the family clan to play ROOT, the RPG over the lunch timeframe. Yes indeed Draclvr, baby goats and sheep are adorable. Time to tank up on WADDB and bagels. Have a wonderful Saturday everyone

Happy Saturday! Gloomy and gloomy here. Brother brought my groceries and I have 2 (hopefully easy) recipes I'll be making this week. I woke up from some dream about some type of mini game I was playing but I don't recall ever playing that particular game in real life gaming. Too bad I can't remember it. I often dream about puzzles in games I am playing. Probably tells you something about my life. Enjoy your day everyone!

LOL! I had a similar dream the other night. It was about some game puzzle which I don't remember!
Get this! Forgot to tell you that Mike with ecollegepc offered to drive out to my house and get this new computer running if I wasn't successful! That would hardly be possible if you lived far away, but even the offer was impressive.

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, Draclvr, oldbroad, Mad, soot, andf everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark brew is ready. We are expecting snow late this afternoon...they are saying blizzard conditions with high winds, drifting, and heavy wet snow lasting thru Monday 12 to 18 inches...power outages expected too. I may not be posting tomorrow. I think we need that "snow emoji" back! I am still cat sitting for my neighbor. Their flight home for Monday was cancelled yesterday and now they won't be back till late Wednesday night! I will make sure their cat has enough food and water today and enough thru Monday in case I can't walk down to there in the deep snow. I hope you all have a great day! Gerry

Good morning Gerry Connie and all who follow. Gerry, your forecast brings back memories of when I lived in Kittery, Maine ... we used to get these incredible snow falls. Sounds like you have an excellent game plan. Stay warm. Grocery shopping is on my docket today. Our warm weather is coming to an end as we head back down to the 20s at night and 40s in the day. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.gameboomers.com/forum/images/graemlins/default_dark/winter.gif) Enjoying wide awake double dark brew and bagels before I head out. Stay warm everyone and have a wonderful day.

Good Sunday morning. Cold and sunny here, but thankfully none of Gerry's snow! Sounds like a good plan to make sure kitty has enough food and water in case you can't make it down there.
Have fun on your short cruise, Fogfighter!

Good Monday morning. Holy smokes, Gerry! That's a LOT of snow. I'll bet you're glad to stocked up the neighbor's kitty so you don't have to go out in this weather!
Sunny and cold here - normal. I've been grateful for my feline thermal unit at night!

Well, it's 6 F & snowing here, a good day to bake. I had a couple of jars of maraschino cherries so I made 2 cherry loaves. Having the oven on made the kitchen cozy & warm. Have a great day & please stay safe out there.

The cherry loaves sound delicious, judith. We got about five inches of snow here and there is still some residual at higher elevations. Otherwise, our weather for the next couple of weeks is set to be between 65 and 70 degrees F. Can't complain! Happy Monday everyone.

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. We had blizzard conditions yesterday...high winds, drifting snow and around 2 feet of snow fell! It is going to take days to clear the roads...there were power outages...my power went off and on a couple times, but stayed on thank goodness. I will walk down to my neighbor's to take care of the cat this morning. Hope you all have a good day! Gerry

Good Tuesday morning. I wondered how you were doing, Gerry. Thankful the power stayed on, but it will be awhile before you can did out! I'm sure kitty will be quite glad to see you! Maybe let another neighbor know before you set out!
Sunny and cold here again - normal. We are going through black oil sunflower seeds for the birds like mad!
Will get my old computer back up and running today - hopefully. I found out a rear fan had died, so I had to replace it yesterday.

Good luck with you old computer Draclvr. Enjoying WADDB and bagels. Will be venturing out after lunch for an appointment. Stay warm everyone

Good Morning oldbroad, connie, Draclvr, soot and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. I had to climb over a 4 foot snowbank to get to my neighbor's house to care for the cat! The snow had drifted in their driveway so it was really deep! Their driveway hopefully was plowed late afternoon yesterday so I can get in the driveway this morning. We are getting more snow this morning...up to 3 inches...problem is the icy patches in the driveway will be hidden so it will be tricky walking in the driveway to get to the cat. My neighbors are flying home late this evening and there are snow showers perdicted when they arrive! It will take weeks for all the snow to melt...no daffodils to enjoy this spring! It is snowing again right now! Enjoy your day everyone! Gerry

Good Wednesday morning. Gerry, what a mess you have... wear some grippy boots and be careful. When I have to care for my friend's cats, it's always in the summer!
A run in town to deposit my brother's farm rent check and make a quick stop at the grocery store is on the agenda today. Need to get gas in my truck too.

Good Morning Fogfighter, connie, soot, Mad, Draclvr and everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. We did get 3 more inches of snow yesterday morning making it slippery walking down to feed Pudsey (my neighbor's cat). She was happy to see me. I went back over late afternoon again...hopefully they got home last night...we had freezing rain over night and everything iced up. Temps will be warm today so melting will start slowly...don't expect it to be gone for weeks! Enjoy your day everyone! Gerry

Good morning, everyone.
Stay safe, all of you buried in snow.
We're having unseasonably warm weather right now. I'm doing a walkaround with the landscaper today to pick some trees and shrubs. Now that the pond is fixed, it's looking a bit bare and needs some structure.
My laptop is back for the THIRD time. It was already on when I opened it and...there was yet another error message. And then another. I restarted it several times and finally it seemed to load properly, Of course, now I'm starting with a completely empty computer and have to reinstall all my programs and copy my files back onto the hard drive. Most of that is fine but now I have to reconnect the printer and THAT is a huge problem. I hate this stuff. It stresses me out terribly. I almost feel as though it's time for a desktop instead. Now that I have my spiffy office, I have room for one.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Afternoon everyone; we have a weather warning for snow squalls today (oh yea). Between the weather & my arthritis which is very bad today I decided to down load from amazon for my kindle two Agatha Christie books; ABC murders & And then there were none. They are easy reading for a day like today. Have a great day & stay safe out there.

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. Hagatha, I have a desk top...an Apple computer and I love it. Never have had an issue with it. We have had sunny weather and warmer temps that are helping melt the snow, but more snow is expected Sunday. Hope you all enjoy your Friday! Gerry

Good morning everyone. Ahhhhh...wide awake double dark brew to start the day. It's currently raining so our walk this morning is on a rain delay. Lovin the rain though. Hope you get your laptop sorted Hagatha. Grocery shopping is on my docket today after a late morning appointment. Stay warm and dry everyone and have a marvelous T.G.I.F. day

Good morning everyone.
Grrr. The laptop is not sorted. First thing this morning there was an error message and a shutdown. This is getting ridiculous. I'd better start looking for a desktop because clearly Dell's technical staff can't fix this machine.
Nothing on my plate today except another frustrating phone call to Dell. Also, another frustrating call to my internet/email provider; their website won't load, I can't access my email on this computer, and their unhelpful and surly technical "support" means it's time to switch over to Gmail and Telus, which has fibre optic.
Apart from that, though, we're still having nice Spring like weather. I've got three trees coming in March for privacy and colour, and then the garden will be done.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Friday afternoon. Didn't quite make it to the break room this morning. Plumbers were here to replace a leaking toilet upstairs. Yikes, almost $600 for the toilet and the labor!
Hagatha, I am head over heels with my new desktop! That laptop must be a real lemon... do you just have to accept that they can't fix it or will they give you a refund?
Gerry, did Pudsley's mom and dad make it home?

Draclvr, Soot, They didn't charge me for any work they did, but then who knows what they did? The report I got back with the computer had literally no information on what work got done. Obviously, they did a factory reset or reinstalled Windows, but I have no idea what else got done.
I told them that if anything not covered under the warranty came up, they should contact me so I could approve the expense Nobody did, so I assume nothing extra got done.
I do have to accept the laptop's lemon status and I don't mind, as long as the company fixes it. I did an end run around them and phoned their sales department. The nice fellow I talked to in Texas said he knew who to escalate the case to, not one of the tech grunts but a supervisor and he sent me an email confirming our conversation as documentation. Who knows?
I did get my email sorted, though. Now I have to see if I can import my emails into Gmail. I did that with John's webmail account just to see if it works, so I should know by tomorrow or the next day.

Good morning everyone. All is good here as I'm kicking off the weekend with WADDB and Bagels. Wishing you a reflective evening Connie with friends this evening. Great news for Pudsey ... stay warm Gerry and Fogfighter. Weekend chores and projects are on my schedule this afternoon. But first we have game plans this morning with ROOT, the RPG. Have a great day everyone

Good Saturday morning. Sunny and warmish today - it was 73 degrees here yesterday! But we're supposed to get freezing rain tonight. When we went in town last night, we noticed they had already treated the main roads with salt brine.
Settlers 2 sounds like a great way to spend the day, Fogfighter!
Connie, sounds like the perfect way to mark your sad day - surrounded by friends and raising a toast.

Good morning everyone. We're heading into a couple of rainy days, perfect for sorting through my kitchen cupboards and reorganizing pots and pans into a more logical order, with the heavy cast iron stuff at waist height for easy reach. My coffee this morning is a yummy new bean from a local roastery that my handyman recommended. Nanaimo may not be the world's nicest city (not by a long shot!) but it does have a couple of good coffee roasteries. Connie, It's lovely that you can remember your husband surrounded by friends. The laptop crashed again and when I tried to restart it went into an endless loading loop with error after error. Windows did finally load, but it looks as though another trip back to Toronto is in the cards for it.

Good Sunday morning everyone. Oh my Hagatha, sorry to hear your laptop saga continues. We are back to normal winter temps and enjoyed a nice walk this morning. Today's main chore includes a good vacuum as Max has been shedding his coat. And then we'll continue some more Magic: The Gathering (MTG) gaming. But first it's time for WADDB and bagels. Wishing everyone a wonderful Sunday

Good Sunday morning. Jeepers, Gerry, you just can't catch a break with the weather!
Had to run down and do the night close/feedings at the last minute last night. They were heading to the ER and both mom and daughter have Influenza A. So glad I have my flu shot and COVID booster on board as I took RayLynn home from the bus Thursday when her mom wasn't feeling well.
Task for today is to get my pepper seeds started in their little indoor seed starters.

Good morning everyone,
It's a bright and beautiful morning, quite warm and Spring-like, and the cats are going nuts because of the change in the weather. Zoomies all morning. I have a few things to tidy up out in the garden in preparation for the arrival of trees. It really feels like Spring, sun pouring in through the French Doors and shrubs starting to go into bud. Apart from heavy rain we didn't really have a winter this year -- though we have had heavy snow in March in years gone by so it's still a remote possibility.
I have many birds in my pond these days. I was worried that the new stream was too fast for them but they still drink and bathe in it. Once I get the new trees planted around the back they'll have places to perch.
I'm always up to date on my Flu and COVID boosters. I can't afford to get sick.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Sunday without much sunshine. Just above freezing point and raining rather than snowing but still snow on the ground. Sorry to hear about Hagatha's laptop PC-problems always annoying. My settlers are happily settling on their island. As I recall the first levels were easy but later the neighbouring barbarians became more agressive and tougher to deal with. Anyway, Happy first Sunday in March GameBoomers!

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. Happy to say we only got 1/2 inch of snow yesterday. But with snow piles 4 feet deep it is going to be weeks before it melts! Not a speck of grass is visible any where. The snow on my deck is 3 feet deep...some of it from drifting off the roof. The days are getting longer and the sun is stronger, but the cold nights slow the melting. Hope you all have a good Monday! Gerry

Good Monday morning. The freezing rain seems to have stayed north of us, but we did got some beneficial rain overnight that didn't freeze. Very dark and dreary here.
Connie, and here I thought you were already DONE with your addition! But you still didn't even have the building permit... ridiculous!

Good Monday morning, everyone.
We're having another lovely day. This was an early morning for me as it was Willow's monthly mani-pedi with the Vet Technician, who comes to my house on her way to work to trim her claws.
Went out to the store, got all the chores done early so I can have a nice relaxing day until later in the afternoon, when I have a phone call booked with yet another Dell technician. Hopefully I won't have to send the computer back again, but I'm not holding my breath.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Monday afternoon you all. Quick grocery run this morning. Enjoyable weather today with lots of sunshine. Stay warm Gerry. Hope your call with Dell gets you up and running Hagatha. I can well imagine the backlog with the city Connie...probably a small office. Have a great day everyone

I'm anxious to hear how this call with the Dell technicians goes. It was SUCH a bad sign when it was shipped back to you still turned on. Seems to me they are just putting band-aids on it and not really fixing anything. I Strong suspect the motherboard was NOT replaced at all last tiime.

Draclvr, the laptop has been left on all three times it's been shipped back to me. I unbox it, open it up, and immediately see an error message on the screen. It is working, though, and did a couple of auto--updates this morning so hopefully it's ALMOST repaired. It seems there's just a general carelessness going on over there. The reports always say they've tested the laptop and verified it's working properly, but then they send it back showing an error message. I don't think they're hiring the best and brightest.
It's too bad, because when it's working properly it runs EVERYTHING well. It's the last laptop I'll buy anyway.
EDIT: So the fellow who called today checked the laptop remotely and acknowledged that something is just not working properly. Dell computers have a very useful on-board support program that will neither launch nor uninstall from my computer and I think there were some other similar glitches along the same line. He's going to see if someone else has any suggestions and call back on Wednesday. At least I can now use the laptop.

Shipping the laptop back still on with an error message indicates a definite lack of the best and brightest there. At least it sounds like you have someone useful who has a clue to help you out.

Good Tuesday morning. Just dark and dreary here. Good grief, Gerry! You just can't catch a break with your weather! YUCK!

Good morning everyone.
We're heading into some rain this week. I'm basically staying at home for a few days as one of my knees is acting up severely, though I did manage to limp around the neighbourhood yesterday for a little while just to keep it from freezing up.
Tax season is coming up on us, too. I do have a tax accountant, a left-over from when we had our rental properties. Now that it's just me I should probably switch to somebody local since my taxes are now fairly simple and the only documents I have to prepare are the health expenses not covered by insurance.
Gerry, I hope your weather improves. My mother lives in Hamilton Ontario and they've been buried under a heavy winter, too.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Morning everyone. Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready! This morning we have icy roads and lots of accidents all over the state. It will warm up later and the ice should melt. For the next few days the weather will finally warm up. Rain is expected every day so the snow should finally start to melt, but more icy roads are expected Thursday night into Friday morning. Today is my appointment with Frontier/Verizon to install fiber optic internet and phone service. I am keeping my landline. Hopefully all goes well. Wishing you all a Great Day! Gerry

Happy Hump Day good morning to one and all! Gerry, we kept our land line too, but our land line no longer using our copper cable phone lines but the new internet fiber cables. So when we lose power we lose our phones... so we kept our cell phones for emergency. Be careful when you're out today. We'll get to taxes eventually. Time for WADDB and Bagels. Have a wonderful day everyone

Good Wednesday morning. Thunder and rain this morning...
Got the taxes done and filed electronically yesterday. Whew! They have been accepted by both the Feds and the State. I'm always so glad to have that over with!
Roasted a whole chicken yesterday. Going to take all the meat off the bones and then roast the carcass in the oven. Will then put the roasted carcass with water, onions, carrots and celery to slow simmer all day to make a fantastic broth. Maybe chicken noodle soup!

Good morning everyone.
Not much going on today, apart from yet another call with Dell Service.
I did manage to migrate all of John's email to my gmail account, so mine is next, after I delete everything that I no longer need. Once that's done I can switch over to Telus and Fibre Optic, and no more webmail.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.
