hagatha, calcium supplements are no longer recommended. They took me off them at least 15 years ago. But you are doing the things that will keep osteoporosis at bay - staying active and walking! After age 65, a bone density scan is definitely recommended.

I'll ask my doctor about the calcium. I take a liquid supplement, but mostly I eat tons of dairy since Greek yogurt and cottage cheese don't require cooking.

The dancing is the best cardio exercise I've had in years. It's literally an hour and a half of fast footwork and having to keep your brain working at the same time to remember all the steps. We get a five-minute water break, and that's it.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I don't like yogurt, but I think it's the texture more than anything. Probably the same reason I don't like pudding! But I did find a yogurt that has 20 G of protein - which I know I don't get enough of - and the texture is more like a soft serve ice cream. The flavors are really good too. Cottage cheese is a favorite too - especially with blueberries added!

Good morning everyone.

Just got up to my usual cappuccino and it's a sunny, if cold, morning.

It's time to take the cats in for their annual checkup and shots. Dude goes today, and just in time, since he caught some kind of small rat the other night and it's the start of flea season.

My Star Magnolia has been in bloom this past week and is now shedding petals, but everything else is about to burst into leaf.

TGIG good morning everyone. Another cool morning here but very enjoyable compared to the temps headed our way this summer. Enjoying WADDB and bagels until I get the energy for chores and projects.

Have a great Friday everyone. wave

Drac; people should ask their doctor before taking any vitamins & minerals, my bones are so thin & brittle that my doctor has me on 1000 units of calcium a day. I have extreme osteoporosis & osteoarthritis. I'm also on high amounts of prescription iron because I have a high white blood cell count.
It's going up to 54F today, nice for a change. Have a great day everyone.

Soot, I just saw a hummingbird! My feeder has been going down, but that's because a little female downy woodpecker has been visiting it. I'm sure it was just a traveler, but it hung by the feeder for almost a minute!

I hope everyone has a pleasant weekend. wave

We actually were under a tornado warning yesterday - happily it passed us on by. The last time I was under a tornado warning I had just checked into a motel in Little Rock, Arkansas back in 1972, so it has definitely been a while!

Now we are having thunder and lightning for the next several hours.

Good morning everyone (it's 12:30 here and I'm about to turn in).

Our sunny days are coming to an end this weekend with rain forecast. If it rains really hard I'm going to put my CRV outside to wash off some of the dirt. It really is looking disreputable.

Got Dude to the vet for his checkup and apparently he's doing doing very well for a cat his age, especially given that terrible problem he had with his insides before he had his surgery. Everyone at the vet makes a fuss over him; he's a bit of a minor celebrity because of that surgery. They really are very good. It's a "fear-free" vet, meaning they don't overlap appointments so cats aren't stressed by dogs or other people, and there's almost never anyone in the waiting room. Also they're all trained to be calm and quiet around the animals. The vet tech that trims Willow's claws works there.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good Saturday morning. Typical April spring day here.

Judith, you absolutely should talk to your doctor even about supplements. In your case high doses of calcium and other meds are called for. But about 10 years ago, they stopped recommending a calcium supplement as a preventative. Especially if you already eat a lot of dairy, it can even be detrimental.

We have a new country market open this week in town and I'm heading in later to check it out. They have a small processing area and they butcher their own meat. I expect everything will be very expensive, but I'm curious to see what they have.
