Good Wednesday morning. More glorious weather ahead.
Got my beets pulled yesterday. I just need to go in town to get a few things and get my canning jars into the dishwasher. Heading outside after I finish my WADDB to start hosing all the dirt off them. Pickled beets no the way!

Good morning everyone.
It's overcast today, but the rain is still miles away from here. I'm hoping we get some.
Not much to do today. I'll be waiting for a call from my doctor but that could be at any time during the day, which gives me an excuse to spend the day gaming.
Draclvr, I love beets. John introduced them to me early on in our relationship, he being English, and although I disliked them at first, once I started to marinade cooked sliced beets in a sweet balsamic reduction with some chopped Basil and olive oil, they became favourites.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Happy Wednesday everybody! Sorry, but I have to weigh in on the beets. At least to cooked ones. I almost lost them when I first tried them as a teen eating dinner at the home of a friend. Tried to wash them down real quickly with milk and the milk came out my nose. I did try jarred pickled beets later in life and liked those but I don't buy them anymore. I think summer is arriving this week. Supposed to warm up for a long stretch of mid to upper 80's. I warned my brother I am going to have to turn the air on even if he is freezing downstairs. I can only be hot and sweaty for so long. Besides me, my fridge doesn't work right when it is too hot in my kitchen. I hope you each enjoy your day!

Yesterday it was 24 C here, and in the evening I had to open a couple of windows to cool the house down. This being the coast, however, it's sweater weather here today.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Oldbroad, beets seem to be one of those "you either hate 'em of love 'em" vegetables! I was raised on them and like them any way they are cooked, but I think roasted is the best.
I suspect your house isn't very well-insulated which is why it gets so hot so soon in the summer. When I tore apart this drafty old farmhouse, the one thing I did was insulate it well because it had none!

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. It is going to warm up into the 80s here today...but not humid so it won't be feeling to hot. I plan on walking very early. Hope you all have a great day! Gerry

Good morning everyone. I love beets too but understand your beet history OldBroad as I have had similar experiences as a kid with spinach and pearl onions. Used to fill my napkin quite often. Time for WADDB and bagels. Have a great day everyone.

We call them “beetroots” here in the UK and I like them boiled or pickled, served cold, especially with salads 👍
But also with a roast lamb dinner 😑

Good Thursday morning. Heading to the upper 80's today, so a tad toasty, but still gorgeous weather.
I cut a couple of the bigger beets into 1/2 inch slices, drizzled with a bit of olive oil and a tiny bit of salt and roasted them yesterday.. That was my supper! My husband hates them - they taste like dirt to him.
Hubby is working on getting the pool open today. Grandson is working night shifts as a union electrician, so he came out this morning to give grandpa a hand.

Good morning everyone.
Beets and Brussel Sprouts are highly divisive foods, it seems. I couldn't eat sprouts until I roasted them with bacon.
It's dance day today.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good day everyone; It's 60F & the weather is calling for thunder storms.
Draclvr; my grandmother used to pickle beets & give jars out to the family. That's the only way I like them.
Have a great day everyone & stay safe out there.
