Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. We are seeing more bears in Connecticut and they are protected. Apparently they are coming to our state from the north as land is being developed. We are a very forested state so it is a natural habitat for them. But having them stroll down my driveway in the middle of the day is scary. Hope you all have a great day! Gerry

One does wonder how effective their “protection” actually is ….

Good morning everyone. Thanks for the coffee Gerry. That's a good question Mad. I'm thinking the protections are good but are never enough given folks who ignore those rules. Have a wonderful day everyone (edit) But, the biggest problem/challenge I think is loss of habitat for these and other creatures. I don't know how you can solve that...

Good Thursday morning. Hoo boy, glad yesterday is over. The wind was just wicked with the 92 degree temps. It blew over a heavy ceramic pot on the hummingbird porch which broke in two pieces. So I have a big mess to clean up out there. There were bad storms all around us, but we escaped with no rain.
Need to get out and hit my tomato and pepper plants with some fertilizer while they are blooming and setting fruit. I saw a couple of baby tomatoes yesterday!
Habitat loss is such a problem and causes our native wildlife to behave and move in unnatural ways. It's why I get furious when anyone threatens more incursion and damage to our state and federal national parks.
When life gives you tomatoes, make Bloody Marys.

Good morning everyone. I was all set to run some errands today but I've decided to be lazy instead. Our dance instructor is off on a conference somewhere so no class today. Tomorrow can be a busy day as I'll be up and at it for my Pilates class anyway.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning everyone; 55F & raining - again. I remember a few years back we had a summer just like this, but last year it was very hot with hardly no rain, two day in a row it went up to 102F which we never get. The weather lately just goes in cycles. This year it's not good for my arthritis.
Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning everyone! Wide Awake Double Dark Brew is ready. Connecticut is a small state with lots of forests and where I live the small neighborhood is surrounded by several thousand acres of state protected forest land so we have lots of creatures that have taken up residence. A couple weeks ago around 5pm a lone coyote came out of the woods into my backyard and strolled across the street and back into the woods. That was the first time I saw one during the day. Other neighbors have had bob cat sightings on their ring cameras as well as bears. I have to be very observant when I go for a walk or when I clean the birdbath or even sit out on the deck! Happy Friday! Enjoy your day! Gerry

T.G.I.F. good morning everyone. Your neighborhood sounds awesome Gerry and I totally agree with your being very observant when outside. I have groceries on the docket today and probably an errand or two whilst I'm out and about. Wishing you all a wonderful day. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.gameboomers.com/forum/images/graemlins/default_dark/wave2.gif)

Good Friday morning. A beautiful sunny day ahead. Your weather sounds just miserable, judith. And like you, when it's like that, my hubby really suffers with joint pain and even headaches.
I agree with soot.... your neighborhood sounds awesome, Gerry! I love sitting out on the deck and listening to birds and watching any wildlife that happens to venture out. We see coyotes quite often and hear them at night all the time. The juvenile black bear that was sighted in town a couple of weeks ago has shown up down at the horse rescue. They have already had to secure all the grain and special feeds from the raccoons, so there really isn't anything for him to eat. He won't bother the horses and all the fowl are locked up at night. We do have some goats, but hopefully he will just keep moving along.

We have lots of wildlife here but fortunately not right in our faces all the time. There's the occasional cougar, but they usually don't bother coming all the way up to the end of this little peninsula because we have a large deer population and the hunting is probably very good.
Today I saw a doe with two tiny fawns, maybe a day or two old. So cute. Most people drive carefully but there's always a fatality or two, sadly. Some wag has put up laminated Fonz signs (picture of The Fonz) all over the neighbourhood to remind us all to be careful driving during fawn season.
It's errand day.
I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Good morning everyone--the weekend is here! We've had about 3 inches of rain this past week and that's good news...but will need more to break the drought. Saturday morning chores are completed and now it's time to enjoy some wide awake double dark brew. Cinnamon rolls, english muffins and kolaches in the break room. Have gaming with grandkids on the docket for this afternoon. Have a wonderful day everyone

Good Saturday morning.. Beautiful outside, but getting toasty later today. It's time for the hot weather to settle in.
Got the tomatoes sprayed and fertilized, so they are good to go for awhile. I just have to walk them once a day to tuck the branching inside their support cages. I see lots of little green tomatoes the size of golf balls on some of the earlier varieties.
Our grandson wants to take us and his mom and dad out to eat for Father's Day tomorrow. Looking forward to that! Not sure where we're going yet.
On the final cleaning and tidying up before the Germans arrive on Friday. Mostly mopping floors and throwing a couple of rugs into the washing machine. Might even move myself to do a little dusting! I always say it's a good thing they come every year because it forces me to put things in order! I even used a little scrubber on a wand and washed my kitchen cabinets last week.

Good afternoon; it's 52F & since early this morning we've had 25mm of rain, it's getting biblical out there LOL. This does not help my osteoarthritis one bit. I hope July comes in hot & dry. Doing absolutely nothing today but play a game
Enjoy the weekend everyone.
