Hi.

I've had this game for years (it's NOT part of The Black Mirror trilogy) but have never even installed it - but I wondered if anyone here has ever played it and what they thought of it.

[ I did find some info here : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Mirror_(2017_video_game) ]

Cheers.

Mad 🙂

I have not played that one Mad but the trilogy was so good it might be worth a look. smile

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

If I remember correctly, SQF, it didn’t get very good reviews when it was released
. at least compared to the original trilogy
.

But thanks for responding to my post 🙂

Hopefully Mikael can weigh in - I am pretty sure I remember him saying that he had played it. wave

I installed the game but then never got around to playing it. If you do play it, please let us know what you think, Mad.

Thanks all for your contributions - especially to you, BrownEyedTigre, for the link to flotsam’s review 🙂

I have to say, though, that whilst the story itself sounds very inviting, I’m not feeling any mad desire to play the game as I very much dislike controls that can cause frustration.
They would almost certainly spoil (for me, anyway) the enjoyment playing a game should bring 👎

Thanks again, Mad 😑

Mad, after I posted I went and read the review and was having those same thoughts about the way the controls sound. smile

I definitely think that if I played it now the controls (especially in conjunction with the visions) would be a deal breaker.
There was a lot to like but I used to be far more inclined to see certain aspects as another part of the challenge. I am much less tolerant these days.

Spoiled, I suppose, by the huge strides technology has made ??

When I think back to some of those very early adventure game graphics with which I was so prepared to struggle, I nearly don’t believe my own memories !! lol

“Daughter of the Serpent”, anybody ?? 😝

EDIT : Later released as “The Scroll”
.

And yes, oldbroad. I imagine you did !!

The controls in The Scroll were certainly memorable Mad
No wonder we never saw SIGNOS again. Not to mention the 18 ‘micons’.
Truly a challenge lol

I played the game quite recently, and liked it very much. So much that I’m sad that it didn’t spawn any sequels. While it didn’t capture the same, nearly perfect, atmosphere as the first game, it still did an excellent job with the graphics, story and puzzles. The difficulty level was just right for me (i.e. I got stuck several times, but managed to play it to the end without a walkthrough). I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone who loves adventure games. If it wasn’t for the controls of course.... You move around with the keyboard and do most of the other stuff with the mouse. However, I always use a gamepad for this type of games. If you don’t like using the the keyboard in games, you should really try a gamepad. It’s very comfortable, since you can lean back in your chair while playing.

Thanks for your views, Mikael 😑

I’m useless with gamepads, though.
My Grandson has tried to help me in the past but I just always failed miserably !!
Much to his amusement 😉
