I'm going to take a swing, but part of this still feels off to me.

Possibly battered = def fish = cod consumed = ate, which is "inside" the fish
But I can't see a soid use for "possibly". Seems it would just start with "Battered" if my answer were right. You've got me rubbing my chin, Sherlock.
