Released in 1995, The Beast Within is generally lauded as a classic of the genre
and was an original entry into the GB Hall of Fame. A follow up to the very successful
Sins of the Father, it reunited Sierra and Jane Jensen and changed the first game’s 2D animation to full-motion video (FMV).

Occupying six CDs when first released, thanks to GOG it can now be played on modern
systems with nary a CD in sight, and no need to wrestle with bits of third-party software
to get it running. So how did it hold up?

Thanks flotsam (and Drac)!

I guess I need to play this some day but maybe will do it secretly in case I don't like it. I don't want to be exiled from GameBoomers. blush

"The truth is they don’t make games like this anymore, which is reason enough to play. More than that though, it’s a rich and ambitious adventure, a showcase for how varied the genre can be."

Pinched this very apt sentence from your very nice review, flotsam, for which I thank you !! 👍

[Thanks also Draclvr.]

Thanks flotsam and Draclvr. At the time this came out I thought it was the best video game I had ever played.

It's nice to be important but it is much more important to be nice.

Thank you Drac!

This is one I've never played either, oldbroad!

Thanks Draclvr!

This game is a masterpiece. The gameplay can be obtuse at times, as with many games from this era, but it’s my favourite Gabriel Knight game, and one of the best games I’ve ever played. The fantastic job GOG does restoring these classics cannot be overstated. It lets us seasoned players return to the classics, and allows younger players to become acquainted with timeless games that they otherwise would never have been able to play.

And it’s almost free! (Compared to what we had to pay for the game in 1995).

Yes, Mikael 🤗

I was into “Good Old Games” at its very start and have never left.

And have always found it to be a special place where very special things happened !!

Just fabulous 🌟🌟🌟
