Hi all, For anyone who would like to replay Atlantis: The Lost Tales, Cryo's 1997 adventure, on a modern computer: I made Atlantis Native, a free, open-source reimplementation of the game's engine. It was one of the games of my childhood, and I wanted to be able to replay it and share it. It runs the original game on Windows 10/11, macOS (Apple Silicon), Linux, and even in the browser, without emulation or compatibility tweaks. It is faithful to the original by default, with optional extras: an HD mode, widescreen, and fixes for some bugs of the original game. You need your own copy of the game: the GOG version, or the original CDs (English, French, German, Dutch, Swedish, Spanish or Italian, with or without Cryo's 1.01 patch). The desktop versions can even play directly from CD images. Downloads and guide: https://github.com/ripleyXLR8/atlantis-nativePlay in the browser: https://ripleyxlr8.github.io/atlantis-native/I also wrote an article on how the original engine works, for those curious about the technical side: https://www.retroreversing.com/cryo-atlantis-engineFeedback is very welcome, especially if you notice anything that behaves differently from the original. Have fun

Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm really glad to share it here, and it's great to see it so well received. If you give it a try, I'd love to hear how it goes, and any difference from the original game is worth reporting. And if you like the project, a star on the GitHub page ( https://github.com/ripleyXLR8/atlantis-native) is a simple way to help: it makes the project more visible to other players.

Thank you both!
oldbroad, that's right, the GOG version does run on Windows 10. Atlantis Native adds a few things on top: it also runs on Mac, Linux and in the browser, has an optional HD mode and widescreen, and can fix some bugs of the original game, while staying faithful to it by default. So it's a nice excuse for another replay!
Rachaelenoire2, same here, Cryo's games had a very special atmosphere. Enjoy!

Atlantis Native 0.5.5 is out, and it brings Atlantis II (Beyond Atlantis, 1999). The whole second game now plays from start to end on Windows, macOS and Linux, and also in your browser. That covers Tibet, Ireland, China, Yucatan and Xibalba, Shamballa and Atlantis, with every puzzle, the 3D talking heads, the saves and the menus. You need your own copy of the game: the GOG.com edition works (pick its installed folder), as do the French CD and the official 1.01 patch. An optional HD mode draws the panoramas and the 3D heads at your screen's resolution, with widescreen. In the browser, your game files are read on your computer and sent nowhere. It was tested in Edge, Chrome and Firefox; Safari has not been tried yet. For the first game, this release adds: - Cryo's 1998 DVD-ROM in its eight languages; - the German CD's first pressing; - a switch for each bug fix; - a macOS build for Intel Macs.
