Harry Potter has finally grown up...this new game is addicting. I got it the 26th and can't do anything but play. The castle grounds are outstanding, the graphics are beautiful and the voices!!wow. The controls are very similar to DaVinci didn't take long to figure out the map with the tasks. Everything is magical, lots of rewards. I have completed all of the first level tasks but 2 and I am still working on getting all the rewards but like many of the more sophisticated game play this Harry allows you opportunity to go back and get what you might have missed in Endless Day mode. Potter fans you will not be disappointed in this new game. .... magmay wink

Thanks so much Magmay for giving your impressions. How would you say it compares to the last Harry P game?

This game seems to be an entirely different generation --- I agree with you MAGMAY, supurb so far. I love the rewards ---
I've been playing for 4 hours now and wished I had started it earlier --- it 2AM by me now. Lovely Lovely.

I have now idea where I am or what I'm doing yet --- but I'm having an absolute blast --- I've made it to Hogsmeade.

Are you saying it is not like the last one in style?

No, so much better. There are a few mini games such as "SNAP"
"SNAP PATIENCE" -- and a few others --- you can practice at these on the EA Website. This I feel is goping to be a HUGE game universe.

Great! I loved Azkaban (sp?) but didn't much care for the style on the last one. Looks like I'll have to get this one then. grin

That's exactly right. Even when you reach the

That's exactly right. So when you finish the game you still get to go back and play as much as like(and get a chance to beat all the games)I finished the game last night @2 am only on the easy level. I have no idea how much fun is instore on the other 2 levels of play (medium and hard) I'm still working on solving portraits! get this game and have fun!

Super game so far ---> One thing I've notived is that the camera angles are odd upon occasion when targeting for spellcasting and the spells seem to work fine in the game universe but are very difficult during the Charms test --- again in easy mode ---
any thoughts on this MAGMAY?

make sure when you are casting a spell that your wand is lighted and the item you are casting at is also lighting up. This helps with which direction yu need 2 be facing . It's like all other games... u eventually get use to how to move around. I noticed that you can't have your wand out when running---- too bad!

MAGMAY --- I'm stuck. Can you offer some suggestions?

On one of the suspension bridges I have fixed a pipe on the near left --- Harry can climb up that pipe --- but still cannot light the large torch at the top...

inferno

==========================================================

Aha! Have to use your WASD keys to aim your wand -- trouble is the camera angles still confuse me --- I th9ink if I install an XBOX360 controller --- it will help. So --------- I've lit the last lantern on the suspension bridge --- I have a new quesion

In the paved courtyard up on the center top right there are broken shingles --- I'm having trouble aiming to fix then (My spell casting is at Level 11 right now --- do I need more power to fix them?

haahaaaaaa! I know I can ignore it --- but I don't want to. Just can't help myself.

Right now I'm just going from place to place trying to get 100%
before I get the last two DA students.

Just caught the snitch in the G Common Room so now I'm at 100% there.

Here's what I've done so far.

TASKS Still to Do
  • Ernie MacMillian -- The Thestrals

So as you can see --- I'm playing this as a "lightsider" -- Discovering -- talking to people --- spellcasting -- fixing things as I go --- playing with the "mini games" such as
Click to reveal..
snap --- snap patience -- wizard chess -- gobstones --

discovering the Portrait passwords -- etc and joyously wandering around and drinking every possible drop of it in. I'm at 78% completion for the Total Game.

this sounds like a great game for a Potter fan as myself laugh What kind of game is it? Mostly puzzle solving or more run and shoot (cast spells...)?

There is nothing that I would refer to as a traditional "puzzle" per see --- it seems to be a number of mini games such as chess --- card games (matching) marble games as you encounter certain characters. You can practice your O.W.L.S in Charms --- Herbology - Potions. There is spellcasting to learn --- teach -- and master. And (for me at least) hours and hours of Hogwarts "discoveriers" -- there is no dying in this game. I've been taking my time with this game --- since I've started it last week -- playing 4 to 6 hours at a session and I'm still only at 56% and haven't ventured outside of the Castle yet (maybe tonight)

There are three degrees of difficulty --- Easy --- Medium and Hard, but no consequence of extra scenes of change in the nature of the game with the exception that the mini games are more difficult and the so is the spellcasting --- both ordinary and defensive.
In the PC version there has been no option to play as anyone else but Harry. (I think that this might be different for the XBOX -- PS2 -- and WII versions -- but I'm not entirely sure.)

You collect blue magical Orbs instead of Bertie Botts Beans.
There are many people to interact with --- and there are many side quests set by them. --- The Room of Rewards is where you will go to get the "game goodies" as you progress --- Moaning Myrtle will let you know when you've something new to discover there.

Very different approach to the series (Although --- I really did love ALL the previous games --- on different platforms -- for different reasons. )
