lol Maybe someone will come out with a similar game. But the folks who made this game and are now making Fable2 won't most likely. In fact, Fable2 is only confirmed for the XBox. Maybe someday it will make its way to the PC.

Trail, nearly did another spew on my gamepad. My Hero name is Ranger. A character comes up to me and says, "Hey, Ranger. How's it hangin'?" I nearly died laughing. The developers of this game had tongue thoroughly in cheek in writing this one!

Winfrey, I didn't know a gamepad would work with this game---

Off to give it a try!

Hi, L4L! wave It's me, Drac! Yes, my gamepad works just great. You can go into the game options and assign all the keys just the way you want.

How's everybody doing so far? I finally jumped back into this for a good long session. My character is slowly getting bigger and stronger as are his adversaries... frown

I don't know your technique for saves, but I just had an experience that made me glad that I consistently do rotating saves. In other words I keep two saves going one just a bit behind the other. Without falling into "spoiler-ville" let's just say there is an individual that I think can be encountered too early in the development of the character and leave it at that, well one other comment..... scared scared scared

Well, I'm heading back in for a short session. I'm rather late in the game trying to master fishing! How frustrating! I'm in the cemetary trying to fish for an item.

Have you done the Arena quest yet? Holy cow, that's tough to get through. Just finished that one. I have so many things to do yet.

Aacckk!! One of the grandkids came into the room just as I was getting the little tutorial for the fishing game, so I missed it. I cannot catch a fish to save my life! I have tried at least 50 times. I must be doing something wrong. Any helpful hints?

Drac, I've caught a few "fish" by just clicking like mad on the left mouse button. The slider at the top left of the screen gradually takes the fish to the hook.

Is that it, or is it a different one?

luck

You are welcome. I used my left hand to just repeatedly hit the button from above and I can't click that fast.

If you still have problems with it:

I know that is tricky to do at first, and for me it seemed backward.
Click the left mouse button once.
A fish will be on your line, and you'll hear the reel sound. When the sound stops, click the left mouse button quickly and keep clicking. The fish should be moving to the left.

If you hear the reel sound again stop pressing the left mouse button. The fish will move back to the right slowly as long as the reel is sounding.
Once the reel sound stops, start pressing the left mouse button again.
Continue this until you get the fish all the way to the left and you get the "You've caught something" message.
If you click the left mouse button while the reel is sounding, your green fishing bar will turn red, indicating you have put strain on the line, and the line will snap (and you'll lose the fish).

Great info, Nickie, and thanks for adding it. I haven't lost a fish yet, but I haven't fished much either :USA:

That's exactly what I needed. I was clicking on the wrong sound only HELPING the fish get away! Like I said a 3 year old hopped in my lap and I missed the tutorial. Got 'em all so far!

Oh Draclvr, how did you program the Snipa to make the shift key work when you have to do the lightning bolts. It sure is a stretch on my keyboard. I just re-started this one tonight and it is fun, hey I am pretty good with the bow and arrow. I just wish I looked more like the kid on the box instead of this goofy looking big footed teenager. Hehe, I also need to be able to memorize the tutes, or write them down.

I programmed my Snipa to do the Will stuff (lightening bolts) on my F key. I wanted it nice and close by. I programmed the R key for the flourish in melee combat.

Gotta agree the big-footed teenager is not what I expected either!

Man, I just came across the infamous fairies. They are really hard to take down!!!!

I didn't mind the big-footed teen. The exaggerated feel of the game kind of reminds me of some early anime' stuff, except in 3D...

I guess I will learn to live with him, since I am him for the duration. But, I would have liked him to look live the cute pokey haired kid on the box. Does he get any better with age? I hope to get back to this tomorrow when I am fresh, I am not a good night time player.

Fairies, back again to fairies, what do you use against them?

Ummm, well he gets bigger and dirtier. And sometimes he smells bad...lol

Luckily, I've only come across one so far, but I'm sure will hit many more. If there is a secret to taking them down quick I don't know it. Personally, I ended up expending every ounce of my mana with the lighting bolt spell to fry the little giggling sucker! evil

I really like the game, but I definitely recommend a game pad with it. Its one drawback, for me anyways is that the user interface is not very intutive, actually clumsy comes to mind...

Yes! I've gotten the little ... sorry, the sweet little gigglers with my bow and arrow, but my graphics are so jerky that I avoid the little ... sorry, the sweet little gigglers as much as I can.

Oh Argghh! I should have gone back and read the beginning of this thread about the saves. I was playing along nicely through the training, but had to quit for the night. Now I am back to where I am a little kid throwing up, well maybe it will go along faster second go round. So once you are tested are you considered done training?

Hawka, once you pass all your testing, you have the option of trying again for a higher score or being done. If you choose done, then you get a cut scene and can then go do some quests which will let you do a world save.

I know this because I had to start over numerous times until I had time to actually finish the training in one session. luck

I had to uninstall it, when I kept trying to access the saves, after a while it said the game wasn't shut down properly and to play in safe mode, or try anyway. I tried and I got a crash and a freeze, previously it was playing fine. It did this before and I did the reinstall and it played fine. So I will install again and not bother to play until I have the time to follow through. Thanks L4L

Hey Hawk,

This game can cause problems. I went through heck and high water to get it to run. One of the things I've heard that helps people run this is by using a clean start up as follows (assuming you have XP).

Microsoft Windows XP
1. Click Start, click Run, type msconfig in the Open box, and then click OK.
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the following check boxes:
• Process SYSTEM.INI File
• Process WIN.INI File
• Load Startup Items

4. On the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5. Click OK, and then click Restart.

To be honest it didn't help my system, but you never know it might aid with your issues.
