MaG, I am now at the ringed pedestal. I have moved the rings every which way. I have moved them from top to bottom: VIII, II, X, VI. Where is the indicator that I have the right place to read them? Is it the hand on the right? Do I have to push something else for them to record so the door opens?

P.S. I finally got the door to open. I just kept trying the numbers in every row. It was the 2nd vertical row from the left that did the trick. Thanks anyway.

OK MaG. I will remember, hopefully. Thanks for all your help. I'm not quite done yet though so you might be hearing from me again.

welcome Pablo,

Are you in the part where the keeper would not let you enter the cottage?
If so, scare him with a makeshift demon through the window. You have to make one first.

I noticed that occasionally after having some conversations then saving the game, that some of my game progress gets lost. When I retrieve the save and start again, I am unable to open a door to proceed. I had to go back and repeat my conversations to gain access to certain doors.

I am running an experiment to see if opening the notebook before saving will insure that the conversations are retained before saving.

I agree that this is a beautiful game, although some may have difficulty with the non-mouse navigation. :-)

Pablo, this is what MaGtRo says in her walkthrough. Go to the side of the cottage and see a scarecrow.

Use the shroud on the garden scarecrow. It needs a skull.

Use the map to go back to the sloop and see that the man is gone.

Look at the blood on the side of the boat. He was pushed overboard.

Enter the cabin and take the goat's skull.

Use the map to go back to the cemetery.

Use the goat's skull on the scarecrow with shroud.

Still missing something. Use the candle on the shrouded skulled scarecrow.

Use the prepared scarecrow.
See if that will work for you.

Pablo, may I suggest you look at the walkthrough HERE to see what you may have missed. If you have been to the sloop before there will be a location on the map that you can use to go back there. Good luck.
