Melanie1 Deleting lots of saves saved me, Thanks everyone. So in celebration after I finished my dark brotherhood mission I went to Grey Rock Cave. I got in, all around, and out the way I came in. It is very hard to read the maps when there are two levels because they are represented on one surface.
I used the enterance where you start above the lower levels and there are in a sense islands of cave surface with the lower level being like deep trenches between them. The Key is a U shaped passage that actually goes from the top level to lower level although is hard to tell that is happening from the map. The U has a little crooked dead end off the curved bottom of the U.
OK when you are on the bottom level it is very hard to find the enterance of this U passage because there is an enterance to other levels of the cave right near it and the visuals lead you to that enterence. (which eventally leads to a completly different exit to the outside world after much twisting and turning and fighting and at least one other door, I think there are three seperate maps to this cave) When you see the enterance that leads to further cave levels(in other words you are standing in front of it looking at it) vear right and keep going you'll come to a rock that splits the passage, one side the right side I think is a dead end the other goes to the U shaped passage that will get you out to the outside world again (after you've explored all). You have to be able to jump accrossed the deep trenches. I am a high level and for me it is easy peasy, if you have troubles quick save (always always quick save) and try drinking potions or wearing enchantments to give your agility a boost.
I hope this helps you and I was pleased to do it because in the random loot I got an enchanted ring I did not have before: 100% against poision, disease and paralize!!! ( I am level 39 so it probably won't happen for you) I put it on now when I see those horriable spiders that spawn little spidyies that paralize you.

Could someone explain Nornal for me? Playing Ob for the 3rd time and still don't understand how to get that platform to go up. Frustration!

Thanks so much for going to all that trouble Nipomo! I know about the separate Islands on the top level though and I just can't make those jumps even wearing an enchanted ring! I'm only a level 1 though so maybe that's why. I guess I'll just have to try it later when I'm a higher level. I think I'm thinking of the same place you're talking about? You got out where the three islands were together? I must have tried that jump about 20 times! grrr! I'm now in Kvatch, about to go in Oblivion gate. I cleaned out 3 of those special white places (I forgot their names, sorry, do you know what I mean? where the daedre are?) and another cave. Oh! I also joined the mages guild and am collecting recommendations and want to join the fighters guild too. lol Melanie Melanie

I'm just inside the gate in Kvatch and I can't figure out where to go. I went into the church and saw Martin and now I'm outside again trying to close the oblivion gate but the walkthroughs all say I should be able to go west. There's no way to go. Straight ahead is a ruin that has boards to climb but once I climb them they don't lead to anything except another level of ruin. I can't figure out how to get past the ruins. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Hi, Did you talk to everyone there in the church? They will have something for you to do and you will be following them. Not sure if you are in Kavatch or the Oblivion gate. If you are in Kavatch then talk to eveyone in the church. If you are in the Oblivion gate then you have to find the tower with the fire in it to get to the top where the Sigel stone (forgot what its called) is. These gates are randomly generated so the path to the main tower will be different in most of them. You may have to go through tunnels underground and through other towers to get to the main one. Some towers may be easy to get to and some may take a trip around the whole place before you get inside.

Melainie1,
I'm thinking that you may not have actually gone "through" the Oblivion Gate and are in Kvatch from the sound of it (in other words you went through the gate that leads to Kvatch not formally through the Oblivion Gate). You need to walk up to the Oblivion gate's aperature (the shimmering opening) and then click your space key like you are opening a door when the open icon appears in front of you. Then you will be transported to a realm of Oblivion. Make sure you save before doing this, Oblivion realms can be...er...challenging the first time through.
Once you close the Oblibion gate, which is to say battled your way to the main Sigil tower, battled your way up the tower, battled your way to the Sigil Stone (you see the pattern here) and then grab the stone off of it's stand the gate will close and you will be back in Kvatch. Then talk to Captain Savlian Matius. He and his cohorts will accompany you into Kvatch to battle through whatever beasties still remain between the gate into Kvatch and the church. Once in the church talk to Martin (after the gate is closed), but don't head back to the Priory just yet. Give Martin a break and go back to talk to Captain Matius. He will lead you to do some clean up work in Kvatch. Once that is done go back to Martn and ask him to trave with you to Weynon Priory to see Jauffre.

Thanks VHLmagic and Trail Mystic. I think you're right, TM. I went through the firey Oblivion gate but I did not use the space bar. I think I am still in Kvatch. That must be what I did wrong. That explains it. I sure wasted a lot of time! How dumb of me! Thanks!!

Don't feel dumb Melanie1 - It's a big game and between all the battles, freaky sound effects (from the Oblivion Gates) and odd atmosphere it's not hard to miss a thing or two the the first time you hit certain aspects of the main quest. Good Luck!

Thank you, Trail Mystic. That't exactly what I did! You hit the nail right on the head. It sure was different this time! I'm about to go back again. I've been through the towers several times but not found the right place yet so I'm back in the tower with the guard that's in the cage about to retrace my steps again trying to find the correct path this time. I haven't done too badly. I only got killed twice so far. One time I fell in the lava and another time I forgot to get out of sneak mode on a bridge and couldn't control myself and went off the bridge while sightseeing. This game sure is beautiful! Thanks so much for all the help! Now don't go too far away!

Hi, Don't worry Melanie1.....we are here for you. Oblivion is a permenent resident on my computer. I have 4 people going on it right now. 1 has done the main quest and has the Dragon Armor rewarded to him and the other 3 are way behind. I am now even downloading 3 more mods to add to it. The first mod is called Midas Magic Spells of Aurum which adds more magic spells once you find the ingrediants you need for making the spells. The second one is called Lost Paladins of the Divines which adds custom armor, weapons, a unique stallion, re-textured steel horse armor. (if you have the official DLCHorseArmor mod), historical book with a map and 4 unique types of creatures that guard the legendary equipment. For more details, purchase and read the book called "Lost Paladin of the Divines." This book is in the First Edition in the Imperial City. The third one is called The Lost Spires. You look for the Spires and get a new guild and so on.

Hi VHL,
I downloaded a bunch of mods but didn't find those yet. I'll have to look for them on my next mod finding spree. They sound good. I have some great armor now but love trying new ones.
I had a horse but was lousy at fighting on it so gave it up. How on earth do you hit anything while on a horse unless the enemy is also on a horse or tall?

Thanks so much for putting them all in one place VHL! They've really come up with some great stuff, haven't they? Wish there were mods for Divine Divinity like that, I would have been a happy camper. You're so right about fileplanet - really a great help for those of us with dial-up.

You are Welcome Nickie. Glad I could help. If only other games had mods like Morrowind and Oblivion then you are right....we would be very happy campers. As for downloading the regular way on dial up it would take hours and hours. This way I can spread it out and don't have to keep the phone busy forever. I even have The Witcher Demo waiting on the manager so I can try it just for the heck of it to see if it will work on Windows 2000 anyway. If it does then maybe I can get the game and be able to play it. We will see what happens.

Hi Maggie, Thanks so much. It's great to be back! I'm trying not to overdo and only play for short periods at a time. I've been playing Darkness Within in betwen Oblivion so I can rest since that game is only mouse and restful on my arms and shoulders too. I missed you too. Thanks again. Thanks for the list, VHL. That will make it easier to find. I use the file manager on file planet also even though I'm not on dial up. It's so much easier when you have a bunch of things you want to download and the servers may be busy or you run out of time. I got a lot of my mods on planet elderscrolls and file planet also. I'll have to check to see if I already have any of those you mentioned. I know that some of the ones I wanted, I couldn't get because the GOTY edition is prepatched so I couldn't install some mods that sounded really good. I didn't realize there was a witcher demo there. I may dl that too. I really want that game. It sounds great.

Melanie1- The Witcher is great, I am past the training stage and trying not to get lost in a town. Right now since I am using my xp home I do not have it on, my Vista Ultimate goes in for it's check up tomorrow, figured I better do it before Warrenty is out. Take care of yourself and glad to hear you are going slow. Hugs Maggie :christmas:

I'm hoping the Witcher is one of the games I got for Xmas. I got Darkness Within as one of them and a great cool pad with fans that's super silent for my laptop, both of which I couldn'tt wait to open and am using already. lol. If not, the Witcher will have to wait a little bit until I'm able to get over all the money I spent on Xmas. I'm playing on vista too with no problems. I love vista. There are a lot of really cool features. I get pretty sore from playing, but I'm trying to be careful. The laptop is helping. I move into bed when necessary and that helps a lot since I can spread out and really prop myself up on pillows. Thanks for caring.

You are Welcome Melanie 1 and take care of yourself. Like I said I really like the magic carpet spell and have not tried the other spells yet to see how they are but bet they are great too. There is a magic shop where you teleport to when you go to the Arcane University to the right and you buy a couple of books that tell you what ingredients you need for each spell and how to make them. Well I am off the see what else I can find for mods.

I also added one more link to the above list. Looking through the Midas spells I also see that you can cast a spell for a chest to store stuff in...cool. Don't know how that works and where the chest is placed or not or do you just keep casting the chest to get into it. In the above mods I found a chest mod which gives you money and is placed by the Divine Elegance store in the Imperial City. Also a mod for a bedroll which you can carry with you in your inventory for when you need rest.
