Hi everybody
Any of you had problems playing this game ?
Well, unfortunately for me I have: at the start of the game, inside the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute, the game freezes every time I try to leave one of the office doors leading back to the corridor. I get a OpenGL-error from the game and then have to do a crtl-alt-del to get out of it. It seems like the game wont change back to a location, where I have already been, continuing to show the little watch icon, that signals a change of location.
Now, there is a german patch 1.1. and it seemed to have adressed this problem. But my english version is supposed to be 1.1. and I dont think I should try to install a german patch anyway.
I already sent an email to Lighthouse support, but so far they have not answered.
I am only hoping some of you may have played this game and encountered the same problem ?

Hi opcv,

I tried to play it some time ago and had the same problem, at the exactly same place, I even tried the German patch but it didn't work...

So, I uninstalled it and gave up.

If someone helps you about this, please let me know wave

I'm not sure but the open gl error sounds like it might be because of your video card. What are your system specs ? Have you updated the video driver yet ?

Hi Cathy1
Well, I have a Radeon 9600 PRO family (Microsoft Corporation), 256 MB video card and my PC easily match the game´s system req.
As for an updated driver for the video card: maybe, I will check it out, although I doubt that is the problem.

I had no trouble playing it with the old drivers that came with my computer (ATI X800SE on a Dell 8400). I think you just need to make sure you're using drivers that support OpenGL.

My video card does support OpenGL, I am sure of that, but maybe I need to change some settings somewhere, I just dont know which ones.

The question is whether or not your drivers support OpenGL.
If the drivers don't support it, it doesn't matter whether the card itself does.

My drivers are up to date and they do support OpenGL, at least that is what I have been told by friends of mine.
Anyway, I have been in contact with Lighthouse support and send them a Dxdiag report. They have promised me to look into it and I am now awaiting their answer.

Yes, your drivers support OpenGL. I don't see the logic in having a video card that supports OpenGL, and the manufacturer of that video card not having OpenGL support in their drivers. Is it possible to give us the exact error message, verbatim? Sometimes you can Google an error message and find a fix on one of the vast number of gaming/tech support message boards on the internet.

**edit**
Where did you get your drivers? You should be getting them from ATI.com. Can you go into dxdaig and post what it says for the driver date? (we don't need the entire dxdiag report)

Also, did you remove the older video drivers before you installed the new ones? If not, you should have.

The error message is only "OpenGL error". In fact I did try to combine it with the name of the game in Google, but without succes.
My drivers are from 29.3.2008 (ati2dvag.dll) and I did get them from ati.com.
My problems may have to do with me believing the card is a PRO card, which it apparantly is not, but only a 9600 series. So I may have used the wrong drivers all along, although the card otherwise have been working just fine.

The Radeon "9600 Series" drivers are for all Radeon 9600 series cards. There are no special drivers for the "Pro".

Lighthouse support told me to disable all graphic effects in the game settings. After doing that (SFX and shadows) it works just fine, much to my surprise !
Thank you for your help, Robert, Cathy and Jenny.

Sorry, it's a shame I didn't spot this thread sooner. I had the same issue with my daughter's PC and this game. And the solution was to turn of the special effects in the Options screen for her too.

Her video card: a 128MB ATI Radeon 9000 Pro.
