I am having issues running this game. I get all the way to the first screen and then get the error message below. Please HELP!!!

Error Description: Unable to load frame called 'intro2'. Verify that the 'Inital frame" exists and that the 'go to another frame' option in the Hotspot Properties is linked to an existing frame. Automation Error Unspecified Error

Has anyone else had this happen? Is there something I can do?

Gamersgate says that this is a known problem with the game - I can't get their help link to work, but it might point you in the right direction.

Yes, I see the message and it says to use this link...but I don't see a link to use or what I'm supposed to do. I guess I will just have to email them again for assistance. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. I don't think I will ever get to play this game. : )

Try turning off you anti virus and then redownlaod the gamer's gate downloader. then redownload the game. Your Game download is corrupted.

Thanks Inferno....I will try that and Let you know what happens.

=========================================================

Hi Inferno,

I tried the above and still not working. I can't seem to redownload the game itself. I delete the GG downloader and also the game files...when I redownload the GG downloader and then try to reinstall the game it's like the game is already there and it never got deleted. Can you tell me how to get it totally deleted so that I can start from the beginning with the download. (of the game itself) I have never had this problem before. It's quite irritating. : )

Are you on Vista? If so I found a patch here

So many games, so little time.

No...I'm on XP. I just can't seem to totally delete the game and have it reinstall from the beginning. I have removed everything I can. You would think that the reinstall of the game itself would take as long as it did the first time, but it doesn't. I get the game installer which to me means I did not uninstall completely somewhere. I'm just stuck and it it so frustration. I emailed GG so we'll see what they say when they respond. Probably Tuesday?

The game is stored in My Documents --> GamersGate

After you reinstall the downloader --> see if you can delete or uninstall the game from there first.

Okay I think it finally is working. It will be awhile for the install, but I will let you know if it works after this. Thanks Inferno and everyone else who has tried to help. Much appreciated.

I don't know but that certainly sounds like a good idea. Everything I did, did not help. Even with the reinstall I am getting the same message. GG is going to refund my money as they don't seem to be able to help me either. I have never had a problem like this before and I have to tell you, I don't want to even deal with it anymore. However, dragonuk44 has posed a really good question. Any one out there know if this can work or does any one have a save they can send me that I could try? I know this isn't the place to ask for it, but since I am still kind of trying to work the issue through I thought it couldn't hurt. dragon if you find a way to make it work for you, please let me know. Thanks.

I have an idea

compar this list of files to what you have in your Game Folder.

The Game folder should be named:

Aurora The Secret Within and not just Aurora.

    • Folders

  • Areas - 344MB

  • Config - 53Kb

  • CPData - 1.25MB

  • External - 1.51MB

  • Frames - 319MB

  • FramesData - 4.10MB

  • Icons - 120Kb

  • Inventory - 16Kb

  • Schemes - should be empty

    • Files
  • Aurora.exe - 620Kb
  • Copia di lente Inventario.ICO - 7.18Kb
  • Gif89.dll - 43.5Kb
  • Manual.PDF - 928Kb
  • unins000.dat - 475Kb
  • unins000.exe - 475Kb
  • XviD-1.0.3=20122004.exe - 620Kb

this is what you should have

inferno

You might want to try installing the XviD-1.0.3 from the game folder and then restart your system. Then try running the game.

The download for this game should have been in 8 parts. You would have seen this form the GG downloader.

I had the same problem when I first had to D/L the game for review. It was one file and was corupted. You must have your anti virus off when d/l this game.

Okay Inferno i will give it another try....as I really want to play the game. I will let you know what happens.

____________________________________________
Okay all my files match yours with the exception of the unins000.dat which is 1,097 KB and the uninst.exe which is 675KB. those are the only differences and I'm not sure that will do anything. I am going to try to uninstall again, shut off anti virus (as I don't remember if it was off when I did it last time) and will let you know. Thanks Inferno for sticking with me on this.

I had the same problem. I did not uninstall anything. Just opened up the downloader and click on the Aurora game and download. (In this instance the download went very fast and I did not expect it to work.) I then re-installed the game into the same folder. When promted to replace I clicked yes and then to launch the game. I passed the intro screen and started to play and saved at the very beginning.
Incidently, the gamersgate downloader never worked on my desktop which runs WinXP Professional. I had no problems running it on my laptop with WinXP Home edition.
