Right. That takes care of that. On to Chapter 3.

Incidentally, it is possible to make Fisstech. grin

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I finally did BOTH of the options some days ago in 'blue eyes' (i.e sidin w/ vamps and stayin nuetral. NOT sidin w/ patrick) and saved both. I wanted to side w/ vampires but the journal entries mentionin "I help create a vampire, what kind of a witcher am I?" made me feel that maybe Geralt hates that although the other one was sad too. But I carried on w/ that. I still have 'sidin w/ vampires' saved. So I might start from there if I won't like this, but maybe after playin a lot I might not come back and do same things. lol

Sounds like you could be playing this for a long time. Does the story substantially change if you side with the vamps?

I sided with the Vampire this time playing, he helps, Vincent that is in some of the fighting later on, in the Inn in the Trade Quarter, but have not played for about a week, so do not know if anything more happens with him.
I am making Deviled Eggs and Chocolate Mousse for tomorrow.

Hope all of you have a Happy 4th of July

As far as I can tell, siding with the vamps merely gives Geralt more insight into himself. It does not change anything in the game other than that. One of the themes that runs through the game is that of choosing the lesser of two evils, depending on your viewpoint. I felt that the blue-eyed vampire had the right to choose her own life, not be sold off by her brother like a cow.

That was exactly why I chose the vamp option too, hagatha. I cheerfully killed off the brother....

I wasn't siding with patrick. But was confused weather to side w/ vamps or stay nuetral. Since usually it seems that doin less evil gives you more experience points and so stayin nuetral does same.

Edit: I'm doin the the quest from triss so still don't know how it would effect the game but will soon find out smile

Glad you continued the game, Hugh! There's a few quests like that with multiple ways to complete them - I enjoy the ability in a game to make moral choices and change it accordingly. I think too often in many games you're forced to do it one way or not play at all. Hope you have fun!

Really it doesn't matter what you do in the first part of the game. There will come a point when you must make a decision, and you'll know when that is. By then you'll probably also know know which way you want to go.

I enjoyed the game a lot more the second time through. I knew where to do my experience levelling in each chapter, so I ended up at level 48 or 49 when the game was done. I also knew which quests I'd messed up and did them right, and I worked out how to make the best potions. I went overboard on the alchemy, though. By the end of chapter three I had so many potions I didn't need to make any more for the rest of the game and my inventory was way too full.

Here's a hint for experience points. When you find a crypt that has lots of nasties, stay in there and rest. Some of the crypts respawn indefinitely so long as you don't leave. Once you leave the crypt, it will respawn only a fraction of the monsters that it contained before. There was one like that in Chapter Five for sure, and I'm fairly certain there was a crypt like that in Chapter Four, too. You'll know soon enough if the crypt you're in is one of these. So if you go in armed with lots of cat potions you can gain several levels very easily.

I was thinkin maybe I'd have hard time decidin who to give Alvin to since I love Shani but Triss is like his true love but Shani helped me give the child to triss. She was so angry even before Geralt decided whom to give Alvin to, that I gave Alvin to Triss. I can't find Triss in her house after meeting Shani. Could she be at that inn? I couldn't find her easily earlier too since she was so 'mixed up' in the colors in the dark in some corner. But this time I searched in every nook and corner, upstairs and downstairs and can't find her.

Hugh, I know I had problems finding Triss in the house too - I think once she was in her room by the transport mirror, once in bed, and once she was at a desk by the books downstairs. I've already forgotten if the alt key works with this, but I think you should be able to run your cursor over the screen to have her name pop up. Someone that has played this more recently can correct me on that if something else is required.
And yes, because Shani was already in a snit, that helped me make the decision to give the child to Triss too...

Thanks for the tip Hagatha on the caves- good stuff!

Triss travels around between the Inn and the house, so if you can't find her at either of those locations she may be in between.

I've chosen Triss twice, but I'm not sure I trust her. She never actually tells Geralt anything.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

Yea, I was guessin she might be at the inn. The time is around 20:somethin. I can see Alvin walking merrily though. I don't like certain things she does either. I liked Shani more but she was already angry before I made the decision and that made me give Alvin to Triss, since she also seems to have resources and she didn't call Shani names lol.

I didn't much like Shani - she was too "clingy." But I've chosen each one and it didn't make much difference in the gameplay at all.

Next time I think I'll choose Shani. Triss is hiding something. I think they didn't really know each other that well before Geralt lost his memory, she is under orders from someone we don't know about, and the great love afair is just a means to an end for her. She probably likes Geralt -- heck, every woman in the game likes Geralt -- but love? I don't think so.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

There's an interesting book in Triss' house that sheds some light on their relationship.

Which one? I thought I'd read them all. I guess I wasn't paying attention. But I will choose Shani next time just for a change. She's better mother material.

I'll also probably have to try joining the Order, though it goes against my principles. At least that way I won't have to disappoint Siegfried. He may be a stuffed shirt, but he's a decent guy. I always feel bad when he realizes I've betrayed him.

huh? is this the thread I strarted renamed to '..thread' or have I posted in the other one. Anyway, it doesn't matter to me at all.
I chose Siegfried/Sigfield? since I didn't want to betray him, although there were some things I didn't like in joinin him.
I'll chose Shani next time too since Triss is annoying me. She even seems to hate Alvin, tellin Geralt to teach him some manners.

I've noticed that Triss hangs out at the inn during the night and is at her house during the morning.

oh, I wanted to ask somethin about 'Kikimore' After I kill them, I don't get the option of 'remains' on them. Do I need to learn about them in a book first? If so then where should I get that book? And there this herb on the walls in the sewers and one like a rose outside the house of Triss M_gg_t that are still unknown to me.

Hi Hugh-

Did you pick up all the quests from the Bullentin Board in front of the Inn in the Trade Quarter? Have you bought or stolen all books, some you will find in houses, just click on them to see if you have read them, it is easy to miss several and I know there is a good one at Triss's house. If you do not have the information in your inventory, you will not be able to pick up. There is also a diary at Grannie's house, Shanni's on the bottom floor which you should pick up, it is read and in a chest near her bed, Grannie I mean.

Good Luck

That's my doing hugh oops I did that when I added the spoilers tag to the topic title because we were using two topics interchangeably and it made it easier for me to track... smile

Hugh, I think the game is a lot more fun if you invest heavily in alchemy, and for that you need to read every scroll and every book you can get your hands on. There is a vendor in the City near all the other Merchants, and you can find books and scrolls as you venture around. Some of the potions and oils for coating swords are incredibly powerful and can make what would otherwise be a a tough battle go smoothly. Also, it's worth spending time drinking with people who offer that option since some of them will give you information and even books and scrolls. Just make sure you use beer and not spirits or wine!

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

And pick up every contract you can get your hands on! You will get lots of points and extra stuff. They are not worth anything to resell, so you can just drop them out of your inventory if you don't mind doing a little littering!

Oh, yeah. Got drunk as a monkey several times, hagatha!

When the threads at GB reach 15 pages, they are locked and a new thread is started. So you will find several locked Witcher threads which you can go back and read, but you can only post in the open one. And Trail is on patrol for spoilers for those who don't want to see them!
