Greetings people - Maggie welcome to Morrowind - you're going to love the game believe me. I've been at this for about 6 months now and I've still got lots to do and I haven't even gotten into the expansion games yet. I think Madge is level 41 right now and we are the Nerevarine. We have been in Ghostgate gathering up the weapons needed to beat Dagoth Ur. This is not a nice place let me tell you. I swear I've done nothing but run around in circles killing Ash monsters and other assorted yucky critters. I'm not sure I'm quite ready to do battle with the main baddie but it looks like it's time.

I still have to make it to the top of the Mage's Guild, Fighter's Guild and I believe the Morag Tong. I may even try to do some of the Thieves Guild quests after I fulfill my destiny grin

Well I just completed the main quest - Dagoth Ur is no more - kind of anti-climatic - now I'm off to complete the few quests I have left and then off to the expasnions.

So, can you install both of these or should you just install one on top of the original game?

I have both installed Draclvr, you can actually go there (Solstheim) if you want to, but I am too puny. I tested it with the traveler person in Ebonheart, then went back to a save. They install quickly, but then it takes forever to merge the games together, so to speak. It tells you this so don't do when you want to play. I know you have XP, someone here has issues with one on Vista.

What kind of magic spell to use?

I've got both installed also Drac - have from the beginning. I also have Vista and haven't had any problems at all and I've been taking sneak preview visits of the areas as I went. I'm still concentrating on the Morrowind portion of the game - I'm now head of the Imperial Cult, Head of the Mage's Guild and am working on the Morag Tong. Still haven't tackled the Fighter's Guild last quest. I also have all the Daedric Quests to do. It is funny to hear all the people stutter when they talk to me now. They don't quite fawn but it's close grin The Ordinators are still snippy however.

Yep the groveling is good. I was taken aback when Cassius Curio still called me "pudding". I mean, good grief, I just came back from killing a god and the man still has the nerve to call me "pudding" He could have at least addressed me as "your royal pudding" whistle

Hi smile

**He could have at least addressed me as "your royal pudding"**

rotfl

I still haven't attempted much of the main quest myself but am gradually working my way through the loads of quests from Guild people and my own "House" people whistle

Am at a "mid twenties" level now and very much appreciative of my Glass Armour and various powerful Long Swords grin

[Also getting quite wealthy - which is a very nice change for me laugh ]

In fact we all seem to be doing very well, don't you think ?? bravo

Cheers.

Your royal pudding? Oh, my, that is just too much for words! grin Now I really have something to aspire to!

Oh, do make sure you go get that Daedric Kantana from Berandas near Gnissis. It has made my Morrowind life so much easier!

Mad I would say we're all moving right along right smartly. I am now head of everything I can be head of except the fighter's and Thieves Guild. I'm working on the Daedric Quests right now - getting me a statue built.

For those that have played the expansions - can I leave my stash of weapons and armor (which is impressive I might add) by Sir Crab and not lose it when I head into the expansions? If not I'll take the time to sell everything to him so I can leave with the cash.

Drac I happen to be using a daedric kantana enchanted with poison - my it's a sweet little weapon grin

And how, pray tell, do I do this? I'm just not getting into the enchantment and spell making. I've bought a spell of "opening" to 100 that doesn't work and I can't figure out why!

Drac, you might not have enough magic or intelligence to cast the spell. I remember doing the same thing myself, thinking "Hah! Nothing can stop me now," and then not being able to cast it.

After several runs through the game I've decided that, apart from a few useful things like your Opening spell, spell making is a mug's game. The spells I always wanted to make required too much mana to cast. But hang in with that spell; I do remember eventually being able to use it. In the meantime, make one that is at level 50 or 60, and see if you an cast that.

I think I'm quite ready for another adventure.

I kind of figured that was it, but wasn't sure. I can cast scrolls of undusi's unhinging up to level 60 for sure. Oh, well, I'll just work on that intelligence and magika!

Some useful spells to buy are all the restore attribute spells. That way if you were hit with a drain attribute spell by some resentful evil mage in a dungeon you can cure yourself on spot. Also useful are mark and recall spells so you don't have to carry around an extra amulet. I also buy water breathing, levitation, and feather which I eventually use to get my clothes enchanted with constant effect as soon as I am able. If you look at the description of a spell you are given two numbers. If the first number is greater than the second number then the spell will fail. These numbers change as you put points into either intelligence or willpower and eventually you can use them.

I now visited the god, Vivec, and he made the temple like me again, so I'm off doing temple quests in between building my Hlaalu stronghold.

I keep boatloads of the restore attribute spells. Just what do the recall and mark spells do? I have a recall and just kept it in case I ever found out.

Woo hoo! Made level 27 last night!

Mark saves a teleportation spot to a place of your choosing. When you "mark" a place it will show up as a white X on your map. Most people choose the place they want to return to the most, usually in front of Creeper. Recall is the partner spell that takes you to the marked place. This is great because you can instantly teleport out of a cave even when totally encumbered. The extra weight doesn't affect the spell. I just prefer learned spells because this is weightless and because then you can sell the amulets, etc. that might be enchanted with this spell. No point duplicating this.

I used Mark and Recall for the Mudcrab Merchant, just because it is a pain to get to him. I haven't really used it yet cause it is so far back to where I left all the stuff. I do use my Amulet of Almsivi Intervention to get to a Temple? is it, but I would rather go back to the stuff I left. Can't pick it up all at once since it is scattered in piles. Sigh, I suppose I would have to go back and neaten everything to one pile, then overencumber and use it.

I was wondering this before, once you use Mark and Recall, can you change it, or would that mess everything up.

What kind of magic spell to use?

You can change it as many times as you like. However, it is handy to have an alternate travel mode (mage guild, silt str., or boat) nearby so you can leave reasonably quickly from your "marked" spot as well. That is why I don't like the mudcrab. There is no other way to teleport away from him unless you have one of those intervention spells. When marking the creeper, you can exit via the nearby mage system.

Talking about transportation, I have also collected all ten propylon indices and can now travel from stronghold to stronghold. I find the stronghold transport system is great for visiting the ashlander camps. Most of the time they are a bit too far removed. The stronghold system is great for that quest the high fane guy gives you when you have to make a vow of silence and you can't talk to anyone including the transportation service people. I have enchanted myself a billowing skirt of levitation so most of the time I fly as the crow the flies from point to point.

How do you trigger the Twin Lamps quests of Ilmeni Dren (part of the House Hlaalu quests)? She asks me if I have heard of the Twin Lamps and regardless of whether I answer yes or no she just dismisses the topic with a comment such as "I thought we had something in common". I can't do any of her quests because I'm obviously missing something.

I believe if you haven't freed any (or a certain number of) slaves in the game so far you won't trigger the dialogue.

“A world is supported by four things: The learning of the wise, the justice of the great, the prayers of the righteous and the valor of the brave. But all of these things are as nothing, without a ruler who knows the art of ruling. Make that the science of your tradition!”
