Hi everbody!
It´s been a while as usual...
I would like your help regarding new games during 2007/2008.
Tex Murphy/Shivers/7th Guest etc are my favourites.
Any newer games that could match these old classics?

Thankful for your help!

The games you mention are always in my favorites list as well. I enjoyed Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened & Nemesis quite a bit, you might like them. They don't have the same campy feel as Tex Murphy, but they're still good games. Dracula: Origin was another I enjoyed.

Take a look at Gabriel Knight. Older games, but classic.

I'll second InlandAZ with all of his recommendations. I'll add Culpa Innata and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey as two other great games. Culpa is dialogue-based, whereas Dreamfall has some action sequences; the stories in both are very involving.

I'd recommend The Lost Crown.
If you liked the puzzles in Shivers and 7th Guest, you might also enjoy Safecracker (the 2006 version).

Hi Ricomon, nice to see you! I'd suggest Outcry, and if you haven't played it - Keepsake (2006).

Whatever you do stay well clear of Culpa Innata:-)It`s shockingly bad.

The two best games of 2008 were Perry Rodan, and Chronicles of Mystery.

mj2,

Isn't it good that we all differ in taste? Life will be boring if we like all the same things. We are also lucky that there are games out there for all of us.

My oooo`s have been snipped. Ouch!!
;-)

I tried to add an icon but couldn`t do it. What`s the trick?

As for good games - someone has mentioned StillLife If this is the one set in two timezones (my memory is a bit rubbish) then it is indeed a fantastic game.

How is the list compiled? 15 is astonishingly high for CI

Indeed. As I said in the Culpa Innata thread a few weeks back, with other games that I haven`t paticularly liked I could at least see the points that people who did like them made, but with this game I cant see of a single positive. Hoses for courses I suppose.

Are we singing off the same hymn sheet here? When you say `Graemlins` are you you refering to the icons beside the "Posting Icon:" label? If so when I select one nothing happens. When I tried to drag one into the text it just displayed the link. Is there some setting I should have set?

Sorry to be a nuisance(sp?)

Press Switch to Full Reply Screen and look at the row of icons just above the text box. Select the last in the list, and choose the one you want to include in your post luck

From this years releases I greatly enjoyed Insecticide: Part 1 and would recommend it although it's important to mention that besides adventure gaming sections it also contains action levels.

Ricomon -- in addition to the other suggestions, you might want to try: Agatha Christie: Evil Under the Sun, Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon, Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches, The Sacred Rings, Darkness Within: In Pursuit of Loath Nolder, Delaware St. John: The Seacliff Tragedy, Sinking Island, Nostradamus: The Last Prophecy and Ghost in the Sheet.

I believe GameBoomers has reviews for all the games listed in this thread -- reading those would probably help to see if they fit your requirements. :thumbsup12:

"Outcry" has my vote-- originality and presentation are outstanding. Except-- one of the puzzles is unsolvable with the clues given.

I'm going to get retro on it and say that, in certain ways, Betrayal at Krondor has never been beaten.

I liked games that has some history facts to them.
I love Sherlock Holmes games, Still Life, Syberia was one of the best and I thought that Dracula origin was better than Dracula 111. Of course it is as simple as we all are different and we have different tasts.
I just like playing most games.

I'd have to agree about Outcry - not too hard, not too easy. And I think I've found the spot that macmac referred to - unsolvable!

Some of the syntax is really odd, though. Direct translation from Russian or something. The atmosphere and graphics are excellent.
