or have a lot of upcoming games been scrapped in the past year or so? A lot of games I've been looking forward to. I still keep hoping that somehow Corrosion: Cold Winter Waiting and Restless will be put out even though the sites haven't been updated in years now. It seems like no one has the funding to finish them anymore, at least as far as the small, independent developers are concerned.

I apologize if this has been brought up before on here. I was just browsing through the list again over at Just Adventure and there's just so many games on that list that have never come out at all.

And Restless was put on Hold for Viperante to make Corrosion. Hopefully if Corrosion is a hit he'll be able to finish Restless.

I think the global economic crisis is having an effect on gaming. Usually, by late August, I would expect to hear about adventure games that the publishers like The Adventure Company and Got Game plan to publish in the fall. So far this year, though, nothing.

I think we are seeing a faster transition to games going straight to online sales and the portals than we would have, had the economic crisis not occurred.

On the other hand, if you look at the adventure games that released in July, it's impossible to say that we aren't currently able to get our hands on lots of adventure games!

I never heard of those games. What are they about?

Yay!!! Thank you for posting that Ana. I never would have looked for it since I kept sending the Viperante guy emails and he never answered them and hasn't updated the site for a good long while.

Becky, I'm sure you're right about that. And July was a good month. I've just bought all the ones I was interested in already.


Ascovel, they are two games that were being developed by a company called Viprante. They both seem to be horror/mysteries. You can learn more about them here.

Speaking of, has anyone heard any news about Rinascimento? This game is near the top of my most wanted list, and I haven't heard anything about it at all in quite some time.

I don't have any new updates on the game Venus, but I'll see if Carla can get some info.

It is sure a shame that the economy has hit everything so hard. You can sure tell...i notice in the Hints/Help mostly postings on just a few games instead of the many different ones we used to see. I wish we 'boomers here were all 'loaded' and WE could help the developers! I feel so bad for so many that put such hard work into a project only to have it canceled or put on hold.

Gameboomers listed The Snowqueen and the Magic Mirror to come out last November and I have not been able to find it anywhere. Does anyone know if it has been released or did it get scrapped?

WE have the game on our "waiting" section, which means it does not have an official release date. When it does, we will certainly update that. The Guppy website has no new info updated unfortunately.

What if, considering the so many memebers of this site as well as the casual visitors... a fund was started to help independent game makers to make their games?

I am poor. So poor that I have to wait until games go to bargain prices if I am ever going to buy them retail and I mostly trade for games or scour e-bay... but I could kick in a few bucks... probably even $5 if I lay of the gin for a day or so (hmm... but can I lay off? For a good cause I could let my liver dry out a bit, I guess.)

But how, you ask, could we ever decide which folks to help fund?

Well... just an idea I guess. I do suppose though that struggling adventure artists could use the endorsement-value of this site's members to try to raise more significant and helpful funds.

Venus, sorry for the late replay, I got in touch with the developers of Rinascimento and unfortunately they are having a bit of funding problem. As Becky said, recession hit hard lots of countries, and Italy is among them...
As soon as I got more good news I will post them straight away!
