You can also check the Annual DarkSide List. It's a recent posting done last June by flotsam and the DarkSiders.

I would like pc games for Vista. Point and click adventure. I checked the darkside list and those are older games.

Hi Julia, I moved you to Adventure Games if that's what you are looking for.
Have you played the Last Half of Darkness Series?

Downfall seemed like it would be pretty gruesome. I haven't played it yet. The screenshots I've seen just lead me to believe that. I've been considering it as a purchase here lately.

Hi Anne. I just wanted to pop my head in because I love gruesome games too (anything horror really) and after seeing your post I went and downloaded Downfall. It IS definitely gruesome, and so far, it has sucked me in completely. I got stuck and came out of the game to see if I could find a hint, but I'm going right back in. It's good! thanks so much for mentioning it! Cat

thanks Anne. I do have to add something now though...I got stuck and emailed the game's creator. He sent me a walkthrough, and without putting any spoiler's here...let's just say that if you're an animal lover (like I am) part of this game coming up might be hard to do. Granted, it's "just" a drawing, but the idea bothers me and so despite my liking of the rest of the game, I'm not sure if I'll be able to continue it. Will let you know what happens next and if I continue w/ it. Cat

Downfall for $10 at Direct2Drive is a good deal. If you are a Silent Hill fan Silent Hill: Homecoming is the latest release in that series (but you may want to check forums about it as people have had issues with the game, but I haven't so). The Path from Tale of Tales is an inecpensive surreal adventure game. Not gruesome, but certainly has a creepy setting, music, and concept. Also if you haven't played, and can find since it's been discontinued, Limbo of the Lost that is a pretty gruesome adventure game in and of itself. Also don't forget the many many free games at Jay Is Games and Newgrounds flash sites. They have many little adventure style games some that are very graphically gruesome in the horror aspect.

He's an even bigger animal lover than I am, but he's a lot better at keeping what happens in film, tv, or games in perspective. I'm just a little too sensitive for it at times. Hope you get through it. *crossing fingers for you*

Speaking of Newgrounds-esque Flash games, Exmortis III recently dropped on Fizzy.com and it's quite impressive for an indie effort (though you'll have to shell out $20 Aussie to play more than the initial chapter, unlike the previous free installments). There's a compressed, online demo, but it's worth downloading the trial version of the full game in my opinion. It's more of an epic-scale, post-apocalyptic deal this time around, but the creator's blog has links to a few other horror games of his and most are gruesome indeed.

The walkthrough is in your game directory. If you can find the game folder on your computer, just open the folder called walkthrough. Ana
