Hi guys,

Per the Bear (my g'son) likes to play on my computer. He can maneuver the mouse and left click...not quickly..we need to get him a small mouse...but I digress. He knows all his colors and numbers up to 10 and most shapes.

Anyone played games with kids this age? I'm looking for a few titles to keep him occupied.

I looked on the BFG kids games, but didn't see anything that seemed age appropriate.

The netbooks are small and the basic ones are cheap. I haven't checked if simple games will work. Card games work on netbook though.

That's a good thought MaG. He really did well playing on the computers today, but of course, the mouse is too big for him and neither one of us wants to be without our computer while he plays rotfl

We bought a VSmile for our grandkids (now 6 and 4) and they have been having a ball with it. It's not too expensive and attaches to a TV (you won't have to give up your puter!) They have games ranging in a variety of ages and are also educational. The grandkids have been playing with it for a couple of years now, although the younger one didn't really like it much until this last year (except for the microphone which you can sing into and doesn't have an age limit!)

Thanks Margie, I wouldn't mind losing the tv as it's always on cartoons when the Bear is here. I had to laugh because before he was born his mom and dad swore he would Never watch tv. rotfl

Thanks Cailyn, I did look at BFG but did not see age ranges...so will have to download some to see if they are Perable.

I'll have to check out the Disney computer. We do have a '98, but I'm not sure that run kids games confused

I do know that having him engrossed all day yesterday sure made my life easier. wave

L4L... I used to get a lot of games for my nephew as he grew up...starting with age 3. (He's now 14!). Putt Putt, Pajama Sam, Freddy Fish, I Spy Jr., etc. Here are a couple of links that have extensive lists which can give you some ideas:

http://www.cdaccess.com/html/pc/51games.htm

http://www.nothingbutsoftware.com/productlist.asp?SearchPage=1&Cat=128&Sort=0&Page=1

I got a lot of the games from CD Access since they list them by age groups (the link I gave you is for preschool games), but the nothingbutsoftware site has some good prices, too.

I also got a small laptop travel mouse, which is the perfect size for small hands.

Have fun!

The Putt-Putt games are terrific for very young players. My granddaughter started on Putt-Putt Saves the Zoo at age 3 and played it over and over. They don't even need to be installed but play off the disk. You can get a demo here:

My g'daughter was using the regular sized mouse at the age of 4. He may adjust to it after a while.

Have you looked at Candy Land: Dora the Explorer edition? BFG has it, and I know one 3 and one 4 year old who just love it.

If Per knows his colors and numbers to 10, he should have no trouble enjoying this.

Thanks Pokey, I'll check that out.

Smitty, the problem with our "mice" are all the buttons are programed so while trying to maneuver he sometimes causes another action.

Cynder, he loves Dora so I'll give it a download. He was playing the Swiper one for a bit and having a great time. He doesn't quite get that he needs to walk and jump and the same time, but I figure if he is having fun and learning, it's all good.

He does know his numbers, colors and shapes. He is starting to learn the alphabet.

Thanks guys, it's been quite a while since I've had to think about entertaining wee ones on a regular basis.
