I have just finished revisiting Dark Fall 2. the game itself was more enjoyable than the original with the add-ons and modifications. However, I experienced the same "glitch" with the opening (and closing?) cinematics, where all you get is a flashing red X on the screen. I found the game a tad "dry" without the end cinematic. You don't see (Ending spoiler)

Malaki transport out or anything.

Then again, I may be wrong and there not even be an end cinematic. Could someone please prove me wrong and tell me how to fix the problem, if any?

PS: This post started as a comment. Not sure now if it shouldn't go into Glitches because of my question razz

I definitely did not get a flashing red X at the end of the Director's Cut. As I recall, there was a brief cinematic at the end.

It would appear you've hit a glitch. I'm copying this over to the Glitches forum. wave

Thanks Becky. I think I remember seeing something about a glitch of this nature the first time I played the original Lights Out. The odd thing is, I played the original on XP and Director's Cut on Windows 7.

Excerpt from ***my review of Dark Fall Lights Out from 2004***
Quote:
Some people, including myself, have had problems getting the opening and closing videos to work. I never got them to work properly during the game on the Windows 98 computer. They would start to play and then freeze, either on a black screen or on a still image from the video. Then a few seconds later the game would proceed without showing the rest of the video. With the Windows 2000 computer the opening video would sometimes work and sometimes not. Either it would work perfectly or it would skip entirely. The videos are mpg files and can be viewed outside of the game if this happens.
