Smiley, that's a fine site!! I put it in favorites for easy reference. Anyone who likes shooters should go there. Thanks Ana and Shadow for the help. Believe I'll concentrat on shooters until I'm too old to keep pace. Practice makes perfect but I fear I'm ageing faster than improving. I sure do like shooters. - and Oblivion

Played Far Cry but not the other 2. Is one of the Splinter Cells rated 9/10? Right now am playing Killzone2 and Jericho each for the 3rd time. You emerge a much better player from these - especially Killzone. Jericho is an excellent game like Resistance 1 and 2. My children (5) gave me a gift card from an electronics store that has the most extensive array of games and I'm doing my homework befor I go.

I loved Killzone 2, Resistance 1 and 2. Also F.E.A.R. 1 and 2. I didn't like Far Cry, didn't even finish it. Have you played Dead Space? It is different, reading about the weapons used in the game it may seem stupid but it is not, it is not as strait forward as the others because it requires choosing the kind of weapons or upgrades to acquire. Easier but not bad while waiting for Killzone 3, F.E.A.R. 3 and others are Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2. Also the two Chronicles of Riddick.

Wow!! a fine response. And my list groweth might go get my games Sunday. Far Cry is just OK - posted befor that I always wanted to drive a car like that. Reminds me when I was teaching my kids (5) to drive. Dead Space is super but still prefer Killzone2 and Resistance games - lets hope there's more of them comming. What's Dead S. 2 like?I didn't know Chron of R and Splinter Cell games were shooters. Thanks all

I wish we all could go to Fry's Electronics in Austin, Texas and use my gift card and all get our games. My children(5) were MOST generous when they bought it for me - Christmas pres. Fry's is an amazing store the game section wrapsup gamers and caresses them and calls - I'm over here. Really, the 1st time there I was so confused as there were so many games. They have a snack area, we could stay all day. MCC, did you get the last battle with Radec in Killzone2 ? It's too hard for me - never can do it but watched it on youtube.

You mentioned Jericho and FEAR, so I'm going to belatedly toss The Darkness and Condemned 2 onto the pile. The former is a bit like Jericho, in that it has a few issues as a game, but compensates with an excellent atmosphere and presentation; and the latter is more of a first-person brawler than a shooter (though there's more gunplay than the 360/PC-only original), but if ever you're in the mood for something different, they're your games! I didn't know ... Splinter Cell games were shooters. I personally wouldn't really consider them as such. You're encouraged to skulk about in the shadows, eliminating your enemies quietly if not evading them altogether. I understand the latest game kicked things up quite a bit in terms of direct confrontation, but in the earlier games I spent far more time shooting out lights than at enemies. Since you like shooters, and Oblivion, have you tried Fallout 3? It's pretty much the two put together.

Hi Feeb, try the Resistance games - they are for PS3 and both excellent. Resistance 2 is easier than 1 but the story continues quite well. For some reason I didn't like Fallout3 and in a fit of rage I blew up Megaton. HaHa I've played both Darkness and Condemmed and gave them both to granddaughter.
happy gaming/shooting

Tried the Resistance demo awhile back, along with a few others, and with the exception of BioShock they weren't really for me; most "ordinary" FPS's usually aren't. What's weird is, I love the old pseudo-3D shooters like Doom, Blood, or Hexen! But with the modern titles something like Undying is more my thing, at least when we're talking blast-away action. For the PS2, Cold Winter was all right, if a bit generic (nabbed it from a bargain bin, in a fit of GoldenEye nostalgia); other than that, The Suffering - which you can play first or third person - is the only other outright shooter I own for the console! Stealth/survival nut, here. As for Megaton, heh, well, I'm sure they'd thank you if they could.

Ooooh Undying!!! Jericho is clive Barker's too. Jer is more squishy squashy and creepy and a standup shooter. Gave Undying to daughter and shouldn't have. Ended up buying Killzone 1, the 3 God of War,Halo, Lost Planet 2, Command and Conquor. Of the bunch will enjoy Killzone the most.
The Suffering sounds pretty good. Edit: Have you tried Heavenly Sword? Fine story and you get to do alot of things. It's a bit short though. I've played that twice.

Oh, I'm well acquainted with Jericho, and Clive's stuff in general, haha; wish he'd do another game. I think I prefer the style and feel of Jericho, actually, but found Undying's gameplay tighter. Suffering is just that, pretty good; no more or less. Only played the demo with Heavenly Sword, I'm afraid - same case with the Ninja Gaiden games, which I immediately thought of. Enjoy your new games!
