My10, I got tons of hits on that message when I did a Google search. The vast majority had to do with Facebook, but there were others as well. The general consensus is that it is a problem with the website you are trying to reach.

Someone else in the house (not me mind you) has been complaining for the last several days about the same thing. She installed a ZYNGA plug-in for extra points or something like that.

I uninstalled it today (so I could actually get some work done) and for the most part the problem is gone.

Such things have had my finger hovering over the "delete my account" option several times. Couple that with the most recent assaults on our privacy by Facebook and it's getting close... It's just such a great way to stay in touch with my family who are 600 - 800 miles away. Grrrr.......

I don't let those things bother me and I haven't had any issues. Most of my family is on Facebook and it is good way to spy on the teens, hehe.

What kind of magic spell to use?

That is until your information starts showing up on 3rd party websites and your photo starts showing up in your e-mails to other Facebook members - all without your permission. I thought I had mine locked down tight, but then Winfrey said an e-mail from me had my photo in it along with a link to Facebook. I was infuriated...

This latest assault on my internet privacy and security is just about too much...

What I also find infuriating is how hard it is to set your privacy settings on facebook. it takes a lot of digging and clicking and I still don't know if I have it right. They could make it a lot simpler!

Would that I could be the peacemaker in your soul that I might turn the discord and the rivalry of your elements into oneness and melody

A good article by Jason Perlow here... Contemplating Facebook Hari-Kari

And a lovely chart of the myriad of privacy settings purposely made to be so difficult, most people give up on trying to keep their information from being shared with 3rd party sites etc. Bewildering Facebook Settings

But I agree with Hawka... it is such a good way to keep up with distant family and friends... not to mention spying on the kids!

Here's an article on how to delete your facebook account
http://www.wikihow.com/Permanently-Delete-a-Facebook-Account

It's not as straightforward as a button press.

Yes, as Jenny notes, it's not easy to permanently delete a Facebook page. Jason Perlow also goes through the steps, but the Wiki link is more straightforward.

I don't mean to belabor this subject in this error message post, but I heard a horror story on NPR on my way home from town a few minutes ago. A psychologist said that a patient of hers had received an invitation to friend a long list of people. It purported to be from the psychologist even though she does not have a Facebook page and never has had one. About half of the list were patients of the psychologist and half were her family members. The patient was livid that the Dr. had violated doctor/patient confidentiality. The psychologist knew nothing about it. The panel on the discussion said Facebook had probably mined her name mentioned by someone and cross-referenced it and somehow had come up with this list and suggested friends to several people.

THIS is what Facebook is doing, so I would suggest that no one should take all this privacy stuff lightly.

I have no problems with Facebook, except for uploading pictures via phone with the 'PICTAVISION APP', they seem to throw your pictures every where! I am or was new to FACEBOOK,it took me awhile to learn it, and I never send inportant info to a friend from FACEBOOK, I get that person's e-mail to send addresses or phone number's!
On errors, I have been having problems opening my AOL Mail, but I think it is on thier side, that is the probem, because my other e-mail websites are fine! I fould my best friend in High School thier!(facebook) but I give as little info to them as I can!
