I am trying to find a patch or workaround for this issue. First some info:
Win XP w/current patches/updates/service packs
AMD 3500 64 bit single core processor
nvidia GT 8500 512meg video w/ current drivers
2 gig Ram
150 gig free hard disk space
Directx 9.39
most current Flash Player
By the way, this is the German version of the game. I have been to the City Interactive, Merscom Games, and Anino Games websites but found no info.
To troubleshoot, I loaded this game on my Vista machine and it works fine. However my wife is the one who wishes to play it on her XP machine. I uninstalled/reinstalled the game, deleted all traces of the game I could find, updated all the XP/DirectX/Flash/Video drivers, etc. The game's minimum OS is XP but I tried 2000 compatibility mode just in case. I disabled my Norton AV and ZoneAlarm as well. (She has a couple of games that do not play nice with Zonealarm).
The install completes with no errors noted. BUT when she clicks the icon to start the game the fun (actually lack of fun <smile>) begins. The four splash screens come up (Paramount Video, Merscom Games, Anino Games, and City Interactive) but then the game gets stuck at the "loading" screen. A red progress bar across the bottom sometimes moves slowly across the bottom of the screen, but even after 10 minutes nothing further happens. On my Vista machine it loads immediately (less than a second) and you can begin gameplay.
Any troubleshooting hints, links to a patch (I can't find one), or other helpful info would be GREATLY appreciated!
