Hi Dutch,
I haven't played this one. The walkthrough states that there should be a full game manual on the disk, hopefully that will have all the info you need. If not, let us know.

I HATE this game. I picked up the pen and put it with the paper and could not get it back into the inventory. I accidentally clicked on his thought for the desk and cant get rid of it. He cant exit because the thought paper comes up instead of the exit how do I get things to stay in the inventory? I right click and it disappears I think I have put it back into the inventory but no such luck. Any help is appreciated

Hello dogpenny. Being the creator of Diamonds in the Rough, I'm sorry to hear that you hate it. If however you are willing to keep trying, I would like to add to Chrissie's fine explanations that the Post-It (what you call thought paper) functions as just another inventory item, plus if you are using a mouse with a wheel you can use it to scroll through the thoughts Jason is "carrying". The manual may be helpful to you, and I'll be happy to answer any further questions you might have.

Now I AM embarrassed. I just meant I was frustrated with that darn pen. I am of the nature not to let a game defeat me and will keep trying until I get past the problem.

You have nothing to be embarrassed about. I deliberately used an old fashioned icon driven interface system precisely because I knew that most new players are not used to it. I wanted everyone to experience the fun we used to have in the first decades of adventure gaming. It's not as intuitive as the usual all-purpose cursor we are used to nowadays, but you will hopefully find that it can be more fun when you get the hang of it.
