The game seems to play okay but the music keeps cutting out in the cut scenes - the dialogue doesn't seem to be affected. Is there anything I can do to alleviate this?

System:
Dell Dimension 2400
OS: XP (home)
Processor: Intel(R) Celeron (R) CPU 2.40GHZ
Memory: 766MB RAM
Graphics: Radeon 9250
Main Driver: ati2dvag.dll
SoundMAX Digital Audio

Is that enough info?

It may be having issues with your integrated sound chip (some games do).

Dell has an update available on their web site. If you haven't already installed it, follow the link below.

Drivers & Downloads

Look for this file: Analog Devices ADI 198x Integrated Audio

Thank you InlandAZ for the link & info. I did try but it does look like tha latest update had already been installed. I think I will just have to accept the issues with the integrated sound chip. The game seems to be playing okay & the sound problem with the music is not a great part of it, just a bit annoying in the cut scenes!

I really appreciate you trying to help.

There is one other thing you might want to try -

Click Start, Run - enter DXDIAG and press OK. On the Sound tab you'll find a slider control for hardware acceleration. If you lowered it for another game, raise it to the max (full right). If not, try lowering it a notch or two.

Don't forget to undo the change when you're done with the game.

Are you sure the music isn't "supposed" to cut out during cut scenes?
Is it an obvious mistake or could it be a design choice?

Thank you InlandAZ for the suggestion - the sound acceleration was set to max so I tried lowering it but it didn't seem to make a lot of difference - if anything it seemed to make things slightly worse.

I know what you are saying Jenny especially as there has been no other problems with background music throughout the game as far as I've got - just in the introductory scene. I did originally have the game installed on another PC and I don't remember noticing the music not flowing as it sets the mood for the game. It's almost as if the music for the introduction was produced differently to that in the rest of the game & doesn't suit the system I'm using?
