Was wondering if anyone has reviewed/played this game yet? Amnesia: The Dark Descent 1st Person Survival Horror Game from the creators of Penumbra. Don't recall seeing it mentioned here yet.

Hi katbear50, I downloaded it from gamersgate. I played it about a month ago and really liked it. More of a adventure game than a action. You don't have any weapons you just have to hide, but not to much. Long game. Richard

Very good game. Yo can play it as adventure if you don't mind getting killed since after you come alive again, in the same place you were killed, the monsters either have disappeared or are weaker or dumber and in the event a "survivor" manage to kill you again definitely will not be there when you "resuscitate". I enjoyed the game very much but as Marie, was put off by the explicit of the torture rooms near the end. I am use to blood and gore because I play shooters but I dislike seeing gross scenes of torture that could be avoided IMO without damaging the story.

If you liked Penumbra you will like this, even when it has the same kind of interface it is not frustrating as in Penumbra, it is highly improved.

Katbear50. Trainers are programs that allow you to alter the way the game works so that you could cheat. They enable features that are similar to cheat codes, for example you could get unlimited health, ammo etc. when using a Trainer. Richard

I am a packrat, I finished the game with many spare oil and tinderboxes , I was only using them in intersections where they gave light to more than one place

The only one I really used is the tinderboxes. The game was dark so I used them to light up everything. I really liked the game. Richard

Richard, My grandsons use those sometimes on the console games, They call them Game Sharks or Game Killers I think? I google Cheat Codes for them now and then too. I'm coming where do I sign up for one?

oldbroad, yes as far as I know it is download only, something that I hate. I downloaded it from Steam since I had use them for some DLC downloads without problem.

Need some guidance here. I am just thru the portable floor solution to get to the Arhive Tunnels. I have manged to get as far as picking up the hollow needle. I am supposed to use it on the locked door for The Archive Tunnels...I think that is correct. But when I try the door it says locked. I have tried using the hollow needle but nothing happens. Am I using the hollow needle on the correct door and if so how do I get it to work? Thanks for all suggestions...

This is for anyone who has completed the game... HELP! I am trying to get the elevator to work and have all the gears in place and the furnace lit. I need to get the spare rods to complete the machinery. There is a rockfall in my way to get to the Machine Parts and I can't find a way over, under, around or through it. The only thing I have in my inventory other than tinderboxes and laudenum is a hand drill. There is a small door at the top of the stairs leading down to the rockfall which won't budge.
Any hints for me? Have I missed something?

I suspect you're not using the needle in exactly the right place, linda. I got it to work the first time.
I spent some time looking and couldn't find any written walkthroughs, kjos. I did find a video walkthrough, but the rockfall wasn't in the video of that part!
EDIT: Sheesh - don't know if I missed the written walkthrough I just found or it was just posted. Somehow, I suspect the first!! I hope I can find how to get around this rockfall...

I actually got so creeped out tonight I had to quit playing. Think I need to play this next part in broad daylight. Hope you've gotten past the invisible water monster, linda!
