All of a sudden and overnight the back mouse port stopped. Mouse moves fine from a front port but I don't like all that wire in the front. Need help fixing the back port.
HP pavilion elite e9290f PC
Razer death adder mouse
Also the back port is right next to a wireless satallite system. If this would affect it any.

There are 4 USB ports on the back of the case - are they all in use?

Yes, there are and I will use one of those. I wasn't sure the trident applied to those. But why would this particular one fail. That's discouraging.
Thank you - you've bailed me out many times.

You might want to try uninstalling the mouse driver and then let the PC redetect it (just reboot after it's been removed, and make sure it's in the original USB port).

You can also try switching the keyboard and mouse to see if the port is damaged.

It's pretty rare that a port goes bad, but it can happen. It's more likely a driver issue.
