I can't get this game to load in the usual way. No automatic download, etc. It just sits there in the removable disk drive.

If I look up what is on the game disk (through Explorer), it lists the following:

Folder: AGON TMC Installer.pkg
Folder: Desktop Images
Adobe PDF file: Agon Manual

The so-called "Installer" folder has a Contents folder with a few BOM and GZ files about 1KB in size. There are License and Read Me files, and some other [blip], but not a single EXE file to be found. (The "read me" file refers to files that do not exist on the CD itself.)

Any ideas what is wrong here?

.pkg files are for Mac.
There were some Mac versions of AGON that were mistakenly labelled as PC versions. It sounds like you may have gotten one of them.

Thanks, Jenny. Darn! I checked the box, and it is very clearly labeled "PC CD-ROM."

I know I have dumped the receipt long since, so no recourse through Amazon on that. I guess I'll have to buy it again and hope they get it right. Or maybe someone here will trade me for it?

A few years back we had another member who had the same thing happen. You could try emailing the publisher, since it was their error, but you might have more luck trading or selling it as a Mac game in the Trading forum.

Reenie,
Jenny100 is right, there was a release in the wrong box. The publisher is supposed to replace it for you and they usually do.

Thanks everyone! I had not heard about that merchandizing mixup. I was really scratching my head here!

I contacted Amazon, and they keep a record of all your purchases, so it was easy to find the "receipt" after all. I wrote them an email and they responded right away. I guess I'm not the first to have this happen. I'm glad I didn't buy the game at a brick-and-mortar store, because I would have thrown out the receipt by now.

I'm pretty pleased with how Amazon handled this. They are sending a new game. I'll just have to wait and see if it is actually a PC platform or a Mac version. LOL
