Hi dot, to GameBoomers. You can most always find a walkthrough for any adventure here at GB -- and you're always welcome to post at our Hints forum for a nudge, advice or a saved game -- so never feel apprehensive about playing. Here are a few games on the easier side which I'd recommend: Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper Dracula: Resurrection (an oldie but goodie) Black Circle: A Carol Reed Mystery Syberia I and II Check out our Reviews section as well, for lots more useful info.

Hi dot Welcome to Gameboomers Yup I was going to suggest Nancy Drew/HER early years You're gonna love Syberia. If you need a hint or a spoiler or even a saved game, just ask in the Hints forum. Make sure that you list what you've done in the game so far... BTW with the earlier Nancy games, you WILL need a note book!

And dot, look at everything, left and right click on everything! If you can pick it up, pick it up. One thing about adventure gamers, they never pass a trash can without looking inside. <g>
Personally, I think Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars, the Director's Cut isn't hard; it has in-game help and it is really funny. You might like it for a change of pace after Syberia (a beautiful game).

Hi dot A visit to GOG might be helpful. They have a good collection of older Adventure games - made ready to download and play on modern machines and they are for sale at very reasonable prices - and some of the really great older "Classics" are included in their catalogue. Just click HERE and then click on the sub-heading "Adventure" (on the right hand side of the page) and you'll get a long list of available Adventure games to look through And if you do see anything that takes your fancy but want to know more before buying, well you'll most likely find a review of the game here at Gameboomers and very likely a walkthrough too AND of course there's always all of us friendly folks to talk to Cheers. Hi Dot... ! !Don't miss the links at the top of this page. GB REVIEWS tells you just about all you need to know about a game to make a decision. LATEST & UPCOMING will whet your appetite for future gameplay.... ....geez, ALL of those links are treasure troves of info, as far as I'm concerned... and turned many of us into BAAGS-ers (there's even a link to see what that means) .

Hi Dot, Let me start off by saying that my wife Lela and I also have an Adventure Gaming Website, but where do I spend a great deal of my time looking things up like walkthroughs or new game releases or whatever? Here at GameBoomers (my home away from home)!! I have been a member of GameBoomers from Day 1, and will always be a member until they decide to kick me out. If I need help, or if someone asks me for help and I have not played the game, or have not experienced the particular problem myself that they are having, and I can't find the answer to their problem, I send them here. Believe me, you are in the best of hands here at GameBoomers. And they are genuinely a nice bunch of folks who are eager to help you out. And now is a good time for me to thank all of you wonderful people here at GameBoomers for all of the help and friendship that you have given me over the years. Thank You!!! Bill

to Gameboomers, dot! I think Syberia is an excellent choice. Hope you enjoy it! Another one you may want to look into is Lost Horizon. I found it to be on the easier side, and as blsbet mentioned, if you need help you can always post in the hint forum. It's an excellent game as well, as I know most on this forum would agree.

dot, I hear you sister! I am not new to adventure games but I always get stuck and need help. This forum has been amazing so don't feel shy about posting and printing the amazing walkthroughs. Everyone here is very helpful and non-judgemental. I only wish that I could help others but I always need too much help Maybe one day...

Hi Dot and Welcome..
My experience in playing adventure games relates somewhat to learning how to do crossword puzzles. You get a feeling for patterns, repeat words, repeat clues, and a sense of how the puzzle is put together. The more you do, the more you pick up. Adventure games is kind of the same, you get to know how to maneuver, how to use inventories, how to get through dialog, and get a general feeling of what to expect.
What I love about these games is that you get to "know" the publisher and how various game engines work which, after time, will help you play them.
My first games were the Sierra Games - Leisure Suit Larry - and all the Quests. Got hooked - and been playing them almost exclusively since !! To me they are the most entertaining and rewarding game type.
Dive in - use a walkthrough if you need to - it will help move the game along and even provide some insight at times - settle down with a drink, some munchie and a pad and pencil.
Have Fun !!
It's not the years honey, it's the mileage!
