Soon to be 19 yr old g'son has begun playing:
"The Witcher" ~ Enhanced Edition.

What is a good site to glean info like synopsis,
helpful things to know, etc?

Upon checking, I see there is not much reference
made to it here.

{I've never played it, so no help from me.}

A while back there were many posts with many people playing Witcher. It is a favorite of lots of Boomers. For hints and lots of info on the game you can also go to Gamebanshee. You can also count me in as one of the people whose favorite darkside game is Witcher.

Kat it is a lot a fun. There is some sexual innuendo and if it's the import, there is one NPC that walks around naked (but that is in one spot only). But, when compared to tv and movies, it's no big thing.

I hope he has fun. wave

As I remember, there is a walkthrough for this game on the game DVD, or as a book, if he has bought as physical copy. If he has it as a download, there should be a walktrough as well.

There is also wikia for Witcher

http://witcher.wikia.com/wiki/Witcher_Wiki

There's also the game's official site (or the forum for witcher)

http://tw1.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?board=61.0

As I remember it, I've found it to be quite enjoyable, but telle you g'son to be very alert. Things he does will come back to haunt him later in the game, certain quests will not show up, and time passes also in this world of the Witcher.
[Unlike in other videogames he just can't put off something and expect enemies to be there still...]

I also like the walkthroughs made by Gamebanshee since they have pictures also...

He has finished The Witcher now, and enjoyed it.
Suggestions for similar games?

Witcher 2 is a good idea, but so is Dragon Age: Origins. Oblivion and Morrowind also, maybe.

No, the Witcher 2 isn't out untill may. However, Dragon Age: Origins can still be bought. And Dragon Age 2 is out n about two months time, March 8 for North America and March 11 for Europe.

Two Worlds (the first one) might also be interesting or maybe Divine Divinity II.

Some RPGs are just too much for me - wimp that I am - but I found the second half of Divine Divinity II to be ridiculously difficult.
And I wasn't alone in that opinion lol

I wouldn't recommend Divine Divinity II at all unless it was someone I wanted to torture grin devil

But I would recommend Divine Divinity along with, as previously mentioned, Morrowind and Oblivian.

Yes, oldman, I agree - the original Divine Divinity is a great game - and I re-played it quite recently bravo

And Morrowind is another huge favourite of mine happydance

But I'm not as excited about Oblivion shocked
