welcometo gameboomers , dot !

glad to have you drop in , and remember we were all beginners once !

the carol reed games are also good ones - the last couple have a built-in hint system ,as do many others. but both the syberia games are wonderful choices ,too.

whatever you choose , have fun !

Hi dot, glad you're enjoying the game!
lol I know the feeling! My philosophy is 'never do today what you can do tomorrow unless it's really necessary!' i.e. eating, sleeping & going to work! smile

Hi dot, I don't remember there being a map but I could be wrong - don't know where you've got to but the main thing is just relax, wander around & hopefully you will get to where you want to go - well that's what I did! smile

I go there a LOT !! laugh

These pure adventure games are supposed to take a long time. When Syberia was new it cost $30 or more. Most of us could not afford more than 1 game a month, if that much. So those games had to last us a month or more.

Have fun, relax and enjoy! It's a wonderful game.

Don't be surprised if you get "stuck alot". That's the "fun" of adventure games. Aerobics for the brain smile

When I first started playing adventure games, I never heard of a walkthrough lol
I actually ordered the Strategy Guide for Nancy Drew Stay Tuned For Danger. I found out that I wasn't clicking on the most OBVIOUS object.

The guide was great tho. It gave me the link to Herinteractive. From there, I met some great people who talked about "walkthroughs" . After learning how to "surf the web" I stumbled onto gaming sites and was eventually led here.

Now If I need a walkthrough, I check out GB first. They have the most clear and concise WTs...

Thanks Mags and WT crew!

I've been singing for over an hour, where are you?

There were no walkthroughs online (that I knew of) when I started either. One puzzle in The Dig had me stumped for days so I went to Best Buy and looked it up in the Strategy Guide on the shelf. That was before they plastic wrapped them. smile

Have fun with Syberia dot! And with all of the other great games ahead. There's a bunch of them!

I child-proofed my home... but they're still getting in!

I remember calling the Sierra-Online hint line years ago.
zookeeper, I loved The Dig. Even the music was great in that game and I remember thinking the graphics were awesome for that time.

There was a time finding a walkthrough was like finding a diamond in your backyard. Everyday.

Now, you can find a diamond in your backyard everyday.

Of the few games I've played most of the puzzles had a logic to them, and you just had to study what to your looking at or asked to do. One, and it shall remain nameless, left logic on the shelf. There was absolutely no logic to it. None, zip, zilch, nada.

The times I've used a walkthrough was because I couldn't see the logic of the puzzle. And because it got tiresome seeing bunches of hair in my hand.

I try to solve puzzles without ruining the fun of the game by using a walkthrough. But it reaches a point, usually the third month of play, where it's time to call for help.

I seem to find bunches of hair in my hand MUCH more often than I once did ....

But I can't decide whether it's due to computer game frustration or age related balding !! lol

Space Quest Fan wow - bring back memories - Sierra had a 900 number back then - you got 3 clues for the call - if I remember.

When I play games now - my PC is next to a window - when I get a game that frustrates me - the neighbors see this nice shinny frisbee go flying out that window. Must be about 3 Nancy Drew games, and The Indigo Prophecy landed in someone's yard hardwall

It's not the years honey, it's the mileage!

Space Quest Fan, I missed the Sierra # somehow! That would've been more convenient! I had to drive 20 miles to sneak a peak at the strategy guide.

The Dig was my first adventure. I remember when I bought it I had no idea what an adventure game was. I just like the box art. Boy was I in for a nice surprise. I was hooked on adventure games from that point on. Yeah, The Dig was an awesome game! Sierra made the best games.

I don't like having to resort to a walkthrough, but they're so available now it's hard not to. It kind of takes the fun out of the game if I don't work it out myself, although if I get stuck for days then I'm not having fun either, so it's like a catch 22.

I am enjoying it thank you very much. you all have been very helpful. I have had to ask for help in the hints section and was very pleased to find out I didn't have to start the game over from scratch...very challenging..thanks again.

I only wish I had known about this site before. where have I been?

Just think of all the great games that you have to discover. There is a section that you might not of seen where they show the annual list of games recommended by Gameboomers members here.

Oh so true, Mad. But since I haven't played that many games I believe mine is because of nature selection. My hair selects to fall out. lol
