Hey people, thanks for reading.

I've lately bought the game Nostradamus.
When I try to run it, however, my cd drive makes terrible noises and nothing happens even after several minutes, nor can I manually open the directory of the game.

I'm running it on win7,64 Bit.
2.27 GHZ, 4 GB ram...

Does the game make the noises when you first put in the disc to install the game? If that's the case, try other CD's in the drive and see if it's still working. If the drive works with your other discs, then there may be something wrong with the Nostradamus CD.

However if you've already installed the game and the drive makes the noises when you're trying to start the game (like the motor speeding up, slowing down, speeding up, slowing down, etc.) the problem is probably that your drive is having problems with the copy "protection" that was used on the game. If it never manages to start, you could try doing a NoCD for the game. Do a Google search for
Nostradamus NoCD

Jenny, thanks a lot for the response.

Miraculously, it works now :-)

Don't know why it hadn't before!

Thanks again!
