I have Rhem4 for Mac. When I try and save the game I get the following message: Director Player Error String expected

Did you "Drag and Drop" the RHEM4 folder from the install disc to your Applications folder? Or did you Drag it to some other place on the computer?

If that's not the problem, what version of QuickTime do you have? and what version of OS X?

Thanks for the response. Yes - I installed the folder in applications. The game runs fine but will not save. I am running it on a Mac Book Pro with OS Lepord.

Try reinstalling it. Drag the game folder to the trash, empty the trash, and reinstall from the game disc.

The game seems to be saving fine in OS 10.5.8 (Leopard) on the iMac I'm using, so it should be working on a Macbook Pro with Leopard.

According to the manual, the game has an autosave, which saves automatically when you exit the game. So check and see if that's working. If it is, it may be possible to play the game without the regular save.

Hi, Could someone Please tell me how to install this game, I bought it and when I put it in my drive/brain whatever its called, it does Not start, They used to have a booklet that comes with the games when you buy them, It would say press start etc. now there are no instructions ... BTW I bought RHEM4 at Best Buy along with Shutter Island, But Im having trouble starting RHEM4 up, it makes a crazy finger tapping noise, when I put the disk in the ..I Guess its called the Brain or the drive....Im not very familiar with these computers, Because I only Play games.... and when I get Glitches or any Problems I ask My Daughter when shes around otherwise, Im all alone in this ... Please I would love to play this game RHEM4 But it just does not run.... I do Hope I worded this correctly, I dont want to be thrown out of Gameboomers again

This is a thread about not being able to save on a Mac. Are you trying to install on a Mac?


If all your other discs are working, this sounds like a bad disc.

no I have a Dell windows... and the box says for WIN?MAC DVD-ROM

If your drive can't read the disc, and your drive reads other discs without a problem, then the problem is with the disc. You shouldn't be getting the finger-tapping noise as the drive tries to read.

Anyway, the first thing to do is check that your drive is still able to read other game DVD discs.

I called my daughter last night at work and she picked up a dvd player its a Sony, and she connected to the computer and its taking the dvd rom ... rhem4 disc, (scratching head) lol,
