Hi evryone,

I absolutely love this game so far - it is finicky and can fairly easily freeze / crash but if you save often enough that isn't a big enough problem to detract from the immersive atmosphere and great story line. And I always did love FMV! I am about a third of the way through the game, and I have been keeping an eye on the walkthrough to avoid any unnecessary freezes but there is one that I can't seem to resolve even by following the walkthrough - when the walkthrough prompts me to push the "Level 2" button in the elevator for the first time, the game freezes evey time, even if I rename the saved game and / or do a few other actions first. Has anybody else had this problem?? I GOTTA finish this game!!!!

Well, thank you thank you thank you! I checked out the support page and while there was no problem EXACTLY like mine, there were some related to freezing, so I checked out what worked for others and it looked like the most common problem was related to a Quicktime issue. I found that I was already working with the latest version, but then I tried the next thing which was to go into the Quicktime program and find the "preferences" tab (can't remember if that was under file or view or whatever)...and then disable BOTH the "Direct Draw Acceleration" AND the "Direct 3D Video Acceleration" functions and I am now able to progress with the game!! YAYY!!! This game is worth any amount of trouble to get it working.

I'm not sure if I should post this here or start a new topic...apologies if I get it wrong....still on darkstar - game freezes after I finish the labyrinth puzzle - the developer was kind enough to send me all his saved games BUT they are from the Mac play version and I can't use them - is there anybody willing / able to share their save games, particularly for just after the labyrinth is completed??

See if the developer has PC saves.

I asked and he says he only has Mac saves. If anyone has a pc save game for after the labyrinth is solved, I'd be immensely grateful!

Hi Minikimal, are you playing on windows 7? I am, and darkstar would not work for me (kept freezing up in certain places in the game) unless I changed the compatability mode to windows xp. This fixed the freezing and it plays great now.

I did not need to replay the game or get saves. etc. so it is worth you trying this fix.

Hi Vic, I am already playing on Windows XP...but thanks for trying to help me!

The manual suggest the problem is Quick Time and offers the fix outlined by minkimal. I don't know have not tried it myself.

Maybe someone over in the Hints forum has saves.
