Hi:
Just came across this DVD that I have never played & can't seem to get it to install.
Put disc in & nothing happens.
Opened Documents and Program Files & see nothing realting to the game there.
Can you please help me to get this game installed?
Thanks in advance.

El

Did you click on My Computer ( with the disc in) and explore the dvd for a setup.exe file ?

This is an older DOS game, you may need to open the disc and run "Install". But, you'll need to do it with an emulator like DOSBox.

Wasn't this one of those games where the DVD version was meant to be played on a DVD player or console attached to a TV? If you want to play it on a computer, you might need movie playing software installed in order to run it. Start the movie playing software and play the disc like you'd play a DVD movie disc.

Yup. From ***the web archive***

The remake could be played on a DVD; the original was released for DOS, MAC and SEGA-CD.

So, I guess it depends on which version she has.

Reqading all the comments above has me confused. As you know I am computer illiterate sometimes.
The DVD case says "Dracula Unleashed" & under that it says "Interactive DVD Game."
Reading the small manual it confused me when it said something about navigating with the remote control (???).
As to Cathy's response, yes, have the disc in & went to Program Files, there is no set up.exe file that you usually find to open & download a game.
Also, I do not have a DOS box (Inland AZ message).
As to Jenny's reply, what is "movie playing software" & can this be downloaded from a site?
All this is confusing & thank you so for all the replies, truly appreciated.
But all in all, is there anyway I can get this game to play or should I just give up on this DVD game?

Edit *************

Thought to play around with it, went to my Computer, clicked on the Dracula disc up comes the Windows Media Player screen (like the one you see when going to U Tube). It starts with music & I think the beginning of the game, (though it has a green flashing screen) tha I'm assuming is the beginning (I guess) of the game), it then stops, green flickering stops & it shows the Menu. But when clicking on New Game (or anthing else), nothing happens.
So that's where I am at.
Is there any way I can get this to play?
I look forward to your replies.

Yes the remote control for the DVD player attached to your TV. This game isn't like a regular computer game that's on a DVD. Instead it's meant to be played on your TV, and instead of using a mouse you use the remote control for your TV's DVD player.

I don't know how to play it on a computer. Windows Media Player may play movies, but if the mouse doesn't work I don't know how you're going to interact with the game. Maybe a game controller would work better? I have no idea.

By the way, the CD version of the game was like a regular DOS game and would play in DOSBox using a mouse to control. However the DVD version has much better resolution on the graphics.

How do I get it to play on my TV?

Don't you have a DVD player attached to your TV?

I hope it works because I'm curious how a game like this works with a remote control!

Yes you need a DVD player attached to your TV -- the type you put movie DVD's in when you want to watch movies on TV.

The game should also play under Windows Media player - that's how I recall playing it.

What did you use for a mouse, Inland?
El said her mouse did not work in the game with Windows Media Player.

I'll have to reinstall it - as I recall, it played, maybe I used the keyboard.

Edit -

I think it may have started it up in WinDVD now that I think about it.

Well, just got thru playing the game.
It does not play on your TV. It plays on your computer. After trying many ways I found how to do it.
Go to My Computer
Click on the game disc to open
Click on (in bold at top of list) Play with Power DVD
You really don't need the computer that comes on the screen much, just to click on Open to get into the game.
The game is sort of like a movie. The only trouble I had with it is I got many Microsoft Errors on it & had to save often, which was very tiresome, the more saves you had, the more pictures to had to click on in order to resume the game. Probably sounds confusing, but if you played it, you'd know what I speak of.
Anyway, hopefully this will help anyone who ever wants to play the game.

It will play on your computer the same way a movie will play on your computer. You need the compatible DVD playing software. It's not like a regular PC game that installs from a DVD. It WILL play on your TV if you have a DVD player attached to your TV. In fact, it was made for playing on a TV rather than a computer. That's why it has the peculiar save system and limited interactivity.

Hi Jenny:
I guess I don't have the compatable software because my DVD player said it was not compatable.
Guess I was lucky to get it to play on my computer!

At least you got it to work somehow, even if it crashed a lot.
