Hi everyone....I'm getting a bit frusterated and wondered if any of you have encountered this issue ??
I downloaded a game from BFG, RTMI Mina's Fate.
The game in the title seems to install o.k., and when I try to start it up, I get as far as the Kheops logo, then it flashes and freezes----have to use 'alt-tab' to get back to the desktop.
This is what I've done so far :
Udated Adobe flash and shockwave
Made sure my graphics card drivers are up to date
Attempted to run RTMI2 in a windowed mode, but my pc won't let me ( I get a message saying 'path not found' or something to that effect )

If needed, I can post my pc specs. I'm trying to run this game on an HP , windows Vista 32-bit.

Would it just be better to uninstall this game and buy the cd and try to install that instead ?
Thanks for any advice !!

Did you try and right click on the desktop shortcut for the game and choose Run as Administrator ?

If the game installed to your Program Files folder, try Cathy's advice. If you don't want to select run as administrator each time you start the game - uninstall it, and reinstall it to your user folders.

C:\users\your user id

Most programs will let you override the default location when installing. By default the Program Files folder is protected under Vista and above.

Thanks for your help smile
I clicked on the desktop icon and had the option of opening the file location in program files; or further down to open properties. Once in properties, I had the option to select admin, privileges; but when I tried to select it, I couldn't provide the right object title. I know this sounds confusing---wish I was more computer-savvy.

When downloading from BFG, it automatically installs to C:\ Program Files (x86) .....
So, since I DL'd it from BFG, is it possible to copy the entire game to C:\users\ ... ?

One last thing, I did try to start RTMI2 in a 'windowed' mode; since that worked once in a different game. However, when I went into the games' config files and changed the 'bFullScreen=1' to a 0, the computer said it couldn't locate correct path and file name. I'm thinking that may correct the flashing/crashing logo.

Thanks again smile

If you want games from Big Fish to install somewhere other than C:\Program Files, you have to adjust the setting in the Game Manager.

You can change the default location of where the Big Fish game downloads to on your computer. Just click on "Options" at the bottom of the Game Manager and then on the next page you will see "Game Directory Location"--you can change the location there. wave

Hi all, well I went and copied all the game files into my C:\User\ folder and was actually able to changed the screen into a windowed mode.....the game then started up ok until the 'Kheops' logo was done, without ANY flashing. But then after the screen went dark, it stayed dark with a small lettering on the bottom left that said 'v.1.05'

Also, I did go into the game manager and the game--although seemingly intact in the user file --is not in the game manager list.
Thanks for the assistance...I will re-download it and follow Marian's directions and place it back in the user file.
I'll let you all know how this turns out...it's been a learning experience, I'll say that much !
Thanks muchness !

I see some folks on the Big Fish forums having similar problems to what you are describing. One solution that worked for some folks with Vista and an NVIDIA card was to go to their NVIDIA 3D Control Panel (on Control Panel) and either disable or uninstall NVIDIA PhsyX Acceleration; if it were me, I'd just try disabling it first.

Do you have an NVIDIA graphics card?

I've had this game on my pc since Aug. 2010 and I believe that after I updated my driver while I was playing another game it messed it up. I have yet to be able to play it. It flashes and jumps around like crazy. Why haven't they come up with a patch for this problem? It seems to be a rather common complaint.

Keep in mind that this is an adventure game and not a casual. Installing it probably puts things in your registry that help the game run. If you just copy files from one location to another, you won't be getting those registry entries that the game needs -- or they'll be pointing to the old location instead of the new one.

Yes, my pc does have Nvidia 250 graphics card and I'm going to try disabling physX Acc. Also, I actually updated my drivers about 2 months ago....there is another update for my card but it's for 64-bit and everything I play/use works fine with the 32-bit---I don't want to mess anything up more than I (may) have.

I uninstalled everything RTMI2 from my pc and am re-downloading into my user files---can't believe it ( C:\User\ ...)let me scale down to a windowed mode.
IDK, this game is fun ---- I actually got it to run, sort of; several months back, before the graphics card update ---- but there's a limit to how much I want to play it. This flashing issue happened before with Kheops' Cleopatra game ( I'd bought the cd ); I gave it to my little sis who has an older pc than ours; and it worked for her just fine. Go figure.

It's possible, in my opinion, that Kheops just made a game that doesn't want to work on many peoples' pc's.

Thanks again for the help and if it actually works I will post again.

Well I finally gave in and bought the RtMI2 dvd and it works fine without flashing or crashing.
I took the liberty before installing it to disable the Nvidia PhysX Acceleration and also turned off my Norton antivirus.
I'm thinking the problem may have been the download through BFG ? I installed the RtMI2 dvd in the program files (default location) and it's working better than when I actually got the online download to work-- briefly .
I'd suggest anyone with windows vista to try the hard copy version.
BFG is not really at fault because (IMO) this is the only game I've had trouble with out of 22 downloads.
