I looked at this and it caught my eye as I've played Darkness Falls as well as the Nancy Drew series and it seemed similar in a few ways (graphically).I was wondering for those who've played it a few things:

1.) Is it worth the $6.99 at BigFish?
2.) Does it have decent length/completion time?
3.) Are there places to explore rather than one small area?
4.) Is it a "hold-your-hand" type of adventure or more independent?
And finally does the story flow well/make sense?

Thanks in advance for anyone who replies laugh

Hi Dreamer, have you checked out Gremlins review here?

Till someone else answers you can also do a search on the forum for threads in Discussions/newer than 4 years for Rhiannon and see previous discusions.

Rhiannon is a very good game, and yes, it more than worth $6.99 ! I can highly recommend this game.

It is quite a long game, though I can't remember how long it took me. But it is a large file adventure game and should take you many hours. It has an excellent story line and complex plot.

There are many places to explore and there is no hand holding. Many found this difficult and asked many questions in the BF forums, myself included in a few spots. It may not be ideal for a first time large file adventure game player, as it is challenging and really makes you think.

There were a few spots where folks had problems, a slight glitch with placing stones together. And I lost one item in my inventory. So save often! If you do have a glitch, one of the writers and developers checks the bfg forums frequently and is good to help folks sort out problems or send a saved game file for areas that folks can't get past.

I checked youtube and there are plenty of game play videos there, if you would like to take a peek and see if you think this will be your cup of tea. I loved the game myself, and hope you will, too. smile

Thank you, LadyCav smile
The review on here was good but I always like to hear other people's opinions. I love Nancy Drew games but sometimes they're a bit too easy and yet Senior mode can be too ridiculous puzzle wise so this game sounds like a nice medium.

I played it....A Good game...But ...You can get confused with the left, right,panning....To find what your looking for...

There is a lot of panning...So if you have motion sickness...This is not the game for you... smile

Yeah, the other games I have in mind are both Syberias, Return to Mysterious Island 2, The Last Half of Darkness series and Gray Matter (if my pc is strong enough). Currently looking for demos smile

The two Syberias are absolutely fantastic games!

The Last Half of Darkness series are brilliant spooky games, they are consistently wonderful.

Mysterious Island (the first one) is really good too.

I'm not sure you can find a demo for Syberia but don't even bother looking. This wonderful game is so incredibly undervalued that you can get both parts, I and II, in a jewel case for only $9.99 (from Dave at Interact and probably other places as well). Ana is so right, Syberia is fantastic.

As for Last Half of Darkness, billy's games are just as unique in a very different way and a lot of fun to play. He does offer demos if you want to try them out. One bite and you'll be hooked, though. Pretty much guaranteed.

Rhiannon? Meh. But I tend to like fairly linear games that don't leave me frowning at the monitor and wondering what the heck I'm supposed to do now or just when the story is supposed to get interesting. I wouldn't call it a visual treat - rather the reverse - and I'm not really fond of all that panning Dar mentioned either. I was so underwhelmed by this one, in fact, that I never finished it. As they say, though, your mileage may vary.

Gil.

The short answer is: Yes, buy it please.

The longer answer is: Yes, you should buy it. It is not a game that holds your hand, the puzzles are fairly logical, and the story is great smile

Re: the motion sickness. I tend to get motion sickness when playing these games. However, as one of the beta testers for the game, I didn't experience any motion sickness at all. The camera is fixed so that you can only pan to the side, not up and down.

Adventure gaming is fun smile

Totally agree with Karsten, I think the story of Rhiannon is excellent.
I enjoyed the game very much and I would recommend it, and I didn't get any motion sickness too wave

~Update~

So I found demos for all of them but here are the results:

Rhiannon I couldn't play too much because it was a demo but it seemed decent. The movement was a little quirky because I thought I was heading to a door but when I'd turn left I wasn't actually there.

Syberia 1 and 2 played perfectly fine (Windows 7) so I'm going to assume that they would if I bought them, correct?

Return to Mysterious Island 2 was corrupt (talked about this in a post before) so I never could try it out for Windows 7.

Gray Matter's demo kept telling me a certain .dl file was missing though all I did was download it.

So that's my update so far smile

By the way..does Interact allow downloads of the game or only buying it and having it shipped?

Dave only sells boxed copies, Dreamer.

You might keep an eye on Good Old Games for the next couple of weeks if you want to download. GOG is selling one game a day at a ridiculously low price. (Today's strategy game is $2.39.) Both Syberias are in their catalog so it's possible that one or both will go on sale.

I had no problem playing Syberia on Win 7.

I'm playing Rhiannon now and really liking it. I was especially glad to find it on Big Fish, as the last time I looked for it, I could only find a boxed copy on Amazon that someone was offering for $124!!!!!

My only complaint is that they took a lot of liberties with the mythology ;)\
