2 of these impossible things that are happening to my computer are -
I've compressed some folders containing my gameplay screenshots to roughly 4.xx GB, I brought a 16 GB flash drive that's completely empty yet when I tried to cut/past 1 of these compressed (4 GB) folders onto this 16 GB flash drive, the computer tells me that the file/folder is too large for the destination - that's impossible.
the other impossible thing that happened was I was using XnView (latest version) on the Acer, doing multiple screenshot captures of the school training videos for my internet classes, and (this was last week or so) XnView was doing these captures beautifrully, but today when I used XnView to do a screenshot capture of the hard drive partitions list in Disk Management\Storage, XnView simply stopped working - another impossible event.
What's going on?
I thought it was an update that was causing the problem, but after I uninstalled this update the problem persisted - what do I do to fix everything without having to do system restore - and undoing some of the work (non gameplay) on my computer?
Thanks in advance.

How did you compress them? Did you use a zip or rar file? Or did you compress them using NTFS type compression. If you compressed them using NTFS type compression, you'll have to format your flash drive in NTFS. Flash drives usually come formatted in FAT32, which does not support NTFS file compression. I can't help you with XnView. I've never used it and don't know anything about it. But is it possible you downloaded a "professional" version that expired after a trial period?

How did you compress them? I used the Win 7 R-click on desktop, send to > compressed (zipped) folder, but I don't know if this is a .zip or .rar file, there's no eztension of any kind following the file name. I don't know about d/l a professional version of XnView, I thought it was always free. Could you please check out their site, Jenny? It's **here**

Jenny, your little trick (to format my new 16 GB flash drive to NTFS) worked! I'm now able to cut/paste these 4.xx GB folders onto it. Thank you!

Thanks, Inland. the FAT in this 16 GB flash drive was originally set to FAT16, which has a max file size of 4 GB, as did the 8 GB flash drive that wouldn't accept the compressed folders (before going out to buy the 16 gig FD) - now I understand that this "impossible problem" was not strange at all!
Back at about 4 - 5 years ago when things like this used to happen on my old laptop, I used to think "evil spirits were messing with my computer as the Lord's punishment" for something that I did.

Update - signed up at XnView's forum, got help there, changed my XnView hotkey, now my Win 7's XnView is back to doing the multiple screenshot captures! Yay!
Now I know that these "impossible things" weren't "evil spirits" at all - b/c I solved them! Yay!

Plus, they were never "impossible."
It's spring. My life is weeds.
