Hi everyone. I've been immersed in Skyrim since the day it came out and it's been running great, but for some reason when I went to play today, I'm having a problem. I'm not sure if this is the game itself or my keyboard, or something else, but when I'm in the game and click on the Items section, normally I'm able to see a list of all of my weapons, apparel, ingredients, etc. and am able to scroll down through all of the items to choose the one I want. Well, the lists are there, but today for some reason when I go to scroll using my arrow keys, nothing happens. I'm unable to get down far enough to get my torches, or to change out of my uniform, etc. and it's odd because the rest of the keyboard controls seem fine. SIGH

Not sure what's going on but I thought I'd post and see if anyone might have an idea of what my problem might be. My specs list is to follow:

The first thing I could ask , would be , is this game the only game you experience this problem with ? Also , is your game fully updated ? The reason I ask , is that , based on research I have performed , Skyrim had a couple of bugs when it was released .

I agree with what Creeping_Doom said. Unless yoy're having trouble with your keyboard outside the game, or with other games, the problem is more likely to be with Skyrim than with the keyboard.

However the latest patch has problems of its own, and can cause dragons to fly backward or removal of magic resistance.
***Skyrim patch sends dragons flying backward***

So you might want to wait for a future patch.
There's a list of bugs here

Thanks Jenny and Creeping Doom. I'm going to go try other games and see if the keyboard works w/ them and if not, have hubby get me a new keyboard. And if so, then get the Skyrim patch---but wait for the new one! LOL

Take care and thanks again you guys,
Tracy

Tracy,

If you are on Steam (& I assume you are if playing Skyrim) they automaticaly (sp) added the patch today, so that is probably the source of your problem. You may want to check the forums & news links there for similiar problems (you can access them both from your Library page) as well as the address that Jenny gave you.

Two other great sites are "The Elder Scrolls" main site: http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/forum/13-the-elder-scrolls/

and "skyrimnexus" : http://www.skyrimnexus.com/index.php

The later has all the current mods for the game & tools to help you tweak it. Both sites are free to join and have been a big help to me in my enjoyment of all the Elder Scrolls games.

Skyrim is a great world to loose yourself in. And if you think it is great now wait til they release the construction kit and the modders start their magic. Actually they have already begun releasing graphic mods & other tweaks that can be done without the construction kit. I think that Skyrim is going to be even better than Morrowind & Oblivion combined.

Sorry Elder Scrolls games get this "old man's" blood pumping! LOL

Oh boy, thank you OldMan! i never realized that they would install a patch automatically, but the timing explains alot. I guess that patch is what's causing my problem and although it bugs me, I'm relieved to hear that because I have been going crazy today trying to figure out what's going on! sigh....

Thanks for the links---maybe someone on those forums will have an idea about dealing with the effects of the new patch--hopefully! I want to be able access ALL of my items and not being able to do it is making me nuts. lol Like you though, I am still totally excited about the game and am in love with the beauty of it as well. Just gorgeous! Also I too can't wait to see what goodies the modders create---they are so amazing. smile

Thanks again OldMan, I no longer feel like I've done something wrong to mess up my game. LOL And btw, no need to aplogize, it gets my blood pumping too! LOL

Tracy,

You are quite welcome, glad I could help. Here is a link I found in the Steam forums that I think may fix your problem until the developers come out with a patch to fix what they broke.

http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=368

Yea, I have been playing the Elder Scrolls for years and love them all. They really have seemed to combined the best of Morrowind & Oblivion into Skyrim. The nice thing is that it is going to be even better when the initial bugs are worked out and the Modders get to work on it earnest. I look forward to being able to play & enjoy it for years to come.

Oh, I almost forgot. There is a way to disable the automatic updating on Steam (it is the default). Right-click on Skyrim in your Steam library and scroll down to "properties" then click on the "Update tab" and change the setting. Then when an update comes out you can wait & see (by watching the forums/news) if it breaks something else before allowing them to install it.
