I am trying to play the demo of the BFG casual game Escape from Ravenshearst, and my mouse is just not responding. I am guessing that I have to maybe update my drivers for my Razer Death Adder mouse? If so, can someone please tell me, in baby steps, how to do this?? I have 64 bit Win 7.

Are you having problems with your mouse on any other game or program , or is it just this game in particular ? I am asking , because I wonder if perhaps your game may have been possibly corrupted during download or install somehow .

You can download the latest drivers for your mouse here : Razer Death Adder Drivers

Download the drivers to whatever location you wish (example : Documents) . Click on the drivers to start the install , then reboot after the install is completed . As a precaution , you may also want to let the mouse's control panel start with Windows . It may help , it may not help . Also , have you attempted to uninstall , then reinstall the drivers for your mouse ?

I am only having a problem with this game and my mouse. In all other aspects my mouse is working perfectly CD.

I have not touched the drivers at all yet, but I think what I will do first is redownload the game itself, since you think that may be the problem!

I am by no means positive that the game is the culprit , it was only a suggestion . Bearing that in mind , a re-download and re-install will not harm anything . The only loss will be time spent . With some luck , a re-download and re-install will cure your game's hiccups . Best of luck !!

My thoughts too, Creeping Doom. If the problem doesn't persist in other games, then this particular game is the likely culprit.

Rosaboobie, just open up your Razer Driver (Start/All Programs/Razer/Death Adder/Death Adder Driver.) The lastest driver version is 3.03 and the firmware is 1.40 for the 1800 DPI Death Adder. But read what they say about updating the firmware before flashing yours. You may also be able to open up your driver which has a console and make some adjustments to the sensitivity or something else.

I also have a Razer Death Adder and did not have any problems at all playing this same game.

It could very well be a corrupt game, because my internet connection has been very bad in the past couple of weeks, so let me try the game again first, before I mess with my drivers!

What video card do you have in the computer?
Usually a sluggish mouse is due to an inadequate video card -- or a problem between the game and the video drivers.

The latest Ravenhearst games has higher system requirements for the video card than other casual games. There were several disappointed Ravenhearst fans on the Big Fish forums who were unable to play the latest Ravenhearst game.

You could try playing the game windowed and see if response is any better. If the game is too small on your screen in windowed mode, change your desktop resolution to a lower one before starting the game.

This is a custom built laptop with a 2GB GeForce GT540M video card and if I remember correctly a Sandy Bridge Core i5 CPU.

I am glad you answered that question, Drac, cos I don't have a clue, but I am sure you are right since you chose it for me! I would be very very surprised if my specs were not up to par for this game, Jenny, although as you say some people have not been able to play it.

That's certainly a better video card than the game requires. But those specs suggest possibility -- that the i5 CPU has more cores than the game can handle. Remember how the unpatched Syberia would slow to a crawl on computers with dual core or hyperthreading because the game could only handle one core (or virtual core in the case of Hyperthreading). Maybe assigning the game's affinity to a single core would help.

If you use that method, then yes. But it's still worth using it as a test to see if it solves the problem. If you find it helps, you can use imagecfg as described ***here*** so you don't have to do set affinity every time you play the game.

Does the Options give you the choice of using the hardware pointer? I found that several games with a slow dragging mouse worked by changing to this.

You're welcome, RB, but it's annoying when you know your computer more than meets the specs for a game and you run into this problem. It's one of those AAAARGH things.
