Just d/l this game a week ago onto my Acer's My documents folder, and tried to copy the d/l into the XP VM (VMWare Player)'s my documents, then when I try to install in the VM, the installer cannot find the setup bin/install bin file and although I have a copy of the game in the VM's My Documents, when I try to make the setup/installer browse to My Documents to point it to the d/l game file, there is no such entry in the VM's My Documents.

How do I get it to establish a Shine of a Star entry in the VM's My Documents (first I tried dragging the file from the host My Documents to the guest's desktop, then, in the guest, moved this file from desktop to guest's My Documents, then tried the R-click/copy/paste from host's My Documents to the guest's My Documents), but got the same results - no such entry in guest's My Documents even though I can see the file's original d/l icon.

How do I get it to create an entry in guest's My Documents that the game's setup can see?

Thanks in advance.

Try copying the install file from the Acer's My Documents folder to a USB stick or CDR. Then open the XP Virtual Machine and copy the file from the USB stick or CDR to the My Documents folder inside the Virtual Machine.

I think there is some way to allow copy/pasting between a VM and a host OS, but there may be a limit on the size or type of the file you can copy/paste. The only thing I've ever copy/pasted between host and VM OS is text.

Er, I discovered why I was having this problem. It has nothing to do with the VM - it's just that Adventure Stop (after you buy a game from them) places your game d/l files in an email as an attachment, and as soon as I saw them there (after going thru the whole thing on the Adventure Shop website after logging in except I wasn't asked for credit/debit card info this time) I d/l these files into a new folder on my Acer Win 7 desktop, copied/pasted this folder into My Documents in the XP guest VM and this time I was able to install the game sucessfully and also, activation was sucessful.

So your problem was that you hadn't copied the game to your Acer in the first place?

Yes. I thought I d/l the game at the POS (point of sale) on the website, in which the game files would be d/l automatically into the My Documents folder. But apparently, Adventure Shop sends the games to your email's in box, and you have to d/l the game from your email inbox to the My Documents (or where ever) folder on your PC.
