BubbaJake,
Are you using Windows 7? If you are, it's really easy. It has a built in thingie (technical term) for burning games to CD/DVD. Just put a blank disk (I'm using DVD-R) into your computer, go to the game folder, select whatever you want to put on the disk and hit Burn in the blue bar up at the top of the screen. That's it.

You can burn the game and the goodies onto the same disk as long as everything will fit.

Oops, forgot to say that you have to have a CD or a DVD-RW drive on your computer but I imagine you do if you have Windows 7.

 Gil.

Actually - you don't put the game folder on the disk - you put the files you downloaded from GOG on the disk. That way you have the "install" files ready for next time you need to install the game Say you have downloaded all files for GK1 in a folder called GK1, then you just mark the folder and burn it to disk. And if you have GK2 and GK3 folders, then mark all 3and burn.... PS: sorry Traveler lol I just thought it would be better to explain, it's not the folder the game was installed to, but the one files were downloaded to

Well, er...yes. You go to the game folder and select from it whatever you want to put on the disk.
You're probably right, misslillo. If I'd had a brain, I'd have said 'go to the folder with the downloaded game file'. One makes so many assumptions!

I have WinXP but it's the same type of procedure.
I save my GOG downloads to Desktop, then open my "Burn Disk" programme and then drag whatever I downloaded across to it.
That way I have a permanent set of the "install/set-up files" just as they were sent to me.

Just be sure to burn to disk whatever you downloaded from GOG in the form in which it arrived.
Don't "open" it or anything before burning it.

BJ (May I call you BJ? ) Why not just wait until you get your new computer? That way, you'll have a built in disk burner that is super easy to use and won't have to pay for one. I doubt GOG is going anywhere soon so your games will still be waiting for you. Gil. But make sure your new PC has a CD/DVD-RW drive! If I were you, I'd have one built by EcollegePC. There is just a world of difference between a custom computer and the er...things you get from places like Best Buy.

I use Nero myself but I thought WinXP had a "built in" facility for burning to disk ?? Or is it only for burning to CD and not DVD ?? [Or am I just completely up the shoot ?? ]

When you decide you want to make the leap to a new PC, I'm sure you would get lots of good advice and suggestions on how to put together a great computer with your needs in mind. It's much more fun to put together what you really need and not have to take what some company THINKS you need!

I didn't know where to go to find help in doing it.
As I said, right here , BJ. The brilliant minds here in Glitches not only gave me good suggestions but the confidence to go for a custom built. Believe me, I needed that poke in the ribs, though my experience with HP wasn't as good as yours and that definitely helped make up my mind. Honestly, you really do get more bang for your buck if you choose the components yourself. Gil.

I've still got my 2004 HP hard drive with XP on it plugging away on a new motherboard and in a new case.
When you're ready, the first thing we need is your budget. Since you are a gamer, you will need a stand-alone video card which can be had on an HP, but they are more expensive. Then we can make some suggestions for builds and you can compare them to a similar HP. The main thing I LOVE about either building myself or having one built is that you get all your operating system and driver DVDs and CDs. After all, you did pay for them! That and there is absolutely NO bloatware as there is on an HP, Dell or any other name brand computer.

"Mad, I was told there was one on this PC, but I have never investigated. There might be one, I dunno. " Whilst waiting for your new machine, I'm sure someone here could help you find and use your existing WinXP facility to burn disks, if you wanted to give it a try, BubbaJake

Draclvr wait, I was thinking about building a Win7. Are we talking about doing this with the XP, which I LOVE?

I still need to burn the DVDs but the idea about building the PC I really want is mind boggling and exciting. This XP is a very nice PC and I will keep it since it plays most of the games I have, but I've stopped buying a lot of games since I know its days are numbered. Won Dark Mirrors 2 here and can't play it, when I really liked the first game. That kind of thing. Vista stinks totally (won't play DM2 either), and I HATE laptops. What am I to do?

Oh, no. I was just saying I had to do a cheapie build to house my old XP drive which I hope will continue to run for a LONG time! You will most definitely want to do a Windows 7 build.
Just let us know if you're interested in having some place like eCollegePC build one for you and we'll jump in and see if we can help you pick out the components that will be the best for you.

If the games put icons on your desktop and you start the game from there, then that's the way it's supposed to work! Actually, that's what I do too. Sounds like you did get a new PC!

If you're talking about a desktop icon, that is nothing more than a shortcut pointing to the game launcher. What you need to burn to a CD or DVD (depending on the size of the files) is what you downloaded. I think the links and answers you need are in your other thread here in the Glitches forum.
