I am making the clay mold for the key when I light the fire to make it game crashes to the destop it has played fine up to now. What is causing that? Anyone know? Thanks for any help given.

I'm guessing the file for the cut scene that is supposed to play is corrupt. I don't remember if this game lets you skip the cut scene by using the Escape key just before the cut scene starts playing. Alternatively you could try backing up your saves, then reinstalling the game.

You don't say what version of Windows you're using, but you could also try playing in compatibility mode (just in case it's not a bad file but a problem in how the game accesses that file in new versions of Windows).

It could still be a problem with how the cut scene is loading. What worked in early versions of XP may not work so well in Windows 7 because of stricter security. It's easier to test it in compatibility mode than to back up your saves, uninstall and reinstall the game, and reinstate your saves though, so I'd try the compatibility mode first. Alternatively you could ask for a Save in Hints.

There is a patch here for this, it should solve the problem:
