I just got upgraded from XP to Windows 7 and got rid of the AVG that was installed.
Also installed was SUPERantispyware. I installed Bitdefender and Malwarebyte. Should I get rid of one of these or are they ok working together.

I did notice with some casual games, Bitdefender will shut off and have to restart by shutting down the game. I think that's what happens. I just know some games interfere with it staying on.

Thanks

You should get some antivirus software back on as quick as possible. The others will run fine with it.

Would recommend Microsoft Securities Essentials http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/security-essentials-download its free, works well and doesn't interfere with any of your games. wave

That's strange. It isn't much of an antivirus if something like a game shuts it down. If you decide to install Microsoft Security Essentials, be sure to remove Bitdefender. You don't want two antivirus running at the same time.

I had security essentials but I read that it wasn't very good. It ran nice but just wasn't as aware as some of the above.

I'm wondering if The superantispyware and malwarebyte would be enough without the Bitdefender as it is the antivirus one. Or maybe the Security Essentials with the antispyware and antimalware?

So many to choose from you just don't know which is the best. I tried avast and all it did was mess up my computer real bad which is why I had to get rid of my loved XP and install W7.

Maybe it's not the games but the Superantispyware and Bitdefender fighting for supremecy. Maybe I should just have one of them along with Malwarebyte.

You can have more than one antispyware program.
You should only have one antivirus.

Say what you want about Security Essentials, at least it doesn't shut down while you're playing a game. And it's compatible with most things, including antispyware/anti-malware programs.

No matter whether Bitdefender is being shut down by a game or by one of your anti-malware programs, it's not doing its job.

Hi Jenny,

I uninstalled Bitdefender, installed Security Essentials. I like the speed of the antispyware for checking each day for tracking cookies. I also kept the antimalware. So, do you think these will work ok together?

Yes.
I think Draclvr has used these 3 together, though Draclvr will have to confirm.

Yup, Microsoft Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Pro work perfectly together -- I've been using both for a long while with no problems at all. (I also use the free version of SuperAntispyware for swiping through every so often.)

Ok great, I'm all set now. I go to one site that loads all the tracking cookies so I have to scan everyday to get rid of them. It only takes about 5 minutes, so no biggy. At least I know it's cleaned each day.

Thanks all for your input.

Yes to MSE and Malwarebytes Pro and the occasional sweep with SuperAntiSpyware.
