Agents Ray and Reyes are investigating a murder at the Mansion. In a spoof of a classic whodunit, everyone is a suspect and the murderer will be confronted…... If you can find them. Not really a sequel. Not really a prequel. It’s more Thimbleweed Park and just as weird.

I’ll get the link up shortly!

About This Game

Welcome back to Thimbleweed Park.

Thimbleweed Park 2 is coming in 2028, and it’s more Thimbleweed Park than ever.

This time the dead body is at the Edmund Mansion, and Agents Ray and Reyes are back to investigate… or are they?

In a point-and-click spoof of a classic whodunit, everyone in the Mansion is a suspect and the murderer will be confronted by our detectives. If you can find them. Spoiler: It’s not the butler.

By the end of another long, strange night in Thimbleweed Park, you’ll have more questions than answers.

Not really a sequel. Not really a prequel. It’s more Thimbleweed Park and just as weird.

And just like last time, in a town like Thimbleweed Park, a dead body is the least of your problems.

Wishlist today, and follow along with behind-the-scenes dev blogs at the Thimbleweed Park 2 website!

ABOUT THIMBLEWEED PARK
The original Thimbleweed Park came out in 2017 following a Kickstarter from Maniac Mansion co-creators Ron Gilbert and Gary Winnick. (Ron is also the creator of the Monkey Island series… maybe you’ve heard of it?) Thimbleweed Park is a point & click adventure in the classic LucasArts style with five playable characters, a zany supporting cast, distinctive pixel art, and an absurd mystery storyline that gets weirder with every twist. A free Thimbleweed Park mini-adventure, Delores, came out in 2020.

This game landed with high expectations, being the long awaited follow up to the very well received Tormentum. Based on 2 hours of play, it's fair to say those expectations are being met.

To quote the Steam page, "You play as David, who is building a simulation populated by beings capable of human-level thought. Every night, he dreams of a locked chest and hears a woman's voice calling to him. When an anonymous seller offers him a mysterious co-processor, parts of the dream begin to surface while he is awake."

As you do, David installs the new hardware and ends up inside his own simulation. He wakes in chains in an island prison.

It's a dark and surreal world, and its visual inspirations (particularly H.R. Giger) are apparent. There is no spoken word (but lots to say and to think), the soundscape being led by a stunning and effective score, with ambient and sound effects in support. It all creates a suitably macabre atmosphere.

Hand drawn and played in the third person, while each scene moves slightly at the edges, by and large what you can see on screen is what there is. It is entirely point and click, and rather than your character walking about within a screen, you explore with your mouse to find hotspots. The cursor will react with a range of icons and you click to engage.

A notepad sits bottom left which will automatically make a note of relevant information, your inventory chest sits bottom right. Click to reveal your found items, then click one to try and use it in the game world. Most puzzles to date have been inventory based, but there have been some straight out puzzles and the need to identify the relevant clues hasn't been hard to date.

Save at will to more than one save point, and the game will also auto-save periodically and on exit.

I look forward to what is to come.
