MaG's walkthrough just says to remove the leather cover. There's no further elaboration on this, so I have no idea how to advise you as I haven't played the game.

Maybe try looking at more than one walkthrough if you haven't already, or maybe someone here who has played the game can help you out.

I haven't played the game but on the website of Louis there is a walkthrough for Broken Sword 5: The Serpent Curse.
As always with lots of screenshots. There is a English and a Dutch version.

You find it at: www.pcgameswalkthroughs.nl.

I hope you got past this part already, but, if not, you have to right click on the statue and also right click on the lens. after that, you should get a magnifying glass and then you can take the leather off.

The walkthrough here explains this part of the game - have you looked at it?

Sometimes looking at more than one walkthrough is helpful - try reading what this one has to say.

It's hard to make a recommendation when I don't know what you have. Otherwise, I would look at GOG and Steam and see what adventure games they have on offer - they have both older and newer adventure games. I haven't had time to play any of the newer adventure games.
